Hypertherm Associates - Executive Business Partner
No two days are the same in this highly visible role supporting the CEO, Management Team, and Board of Directors. Reporting to the EVP, People, Community and Environment, the Executive Business Partner provides direct support to the CEO and coordinates support across the six-member Management Team and Board of Directors.
The role is primarily focused on the CEO, with approximately 65% of time supporting the CEO, 30% supporting the broader Management Team, and 5% supporting Board coordination. These percentages are intended as a general guide and will shift based on business priorities and leadership needs.
Although the work is highly tactical, your judgment, problem-solving ability, and follow-through have a meaningful impact on leadership effectiveness. By creating structure, anticipating needs, and keeping commitments, decisions, and activities visible and moving forward, you help leaders stay focused on the work requiring their attention.
Success requires professional confidence, discretion, and the ability to remain calm when questions, conflicts, or unexpected situations arise. You gather the right information, take appropriate action within the scope of the role, and use sound judgment to determine when to move independently, when to seek guidance, and when an issue requires executive awareness or direction.
As our Executive Business Partner, you will
- Serve as a trusted administrative partner to the CEO, Management Team, and Board of Directors.
- Work with confidence and professionalism when interacting directly with senior leaders, Board members, associates, and external stakeholders.
- Independently assess requests, conflicts, and emerging issues; take action within the scope of the role and elevate matters requiring executive awareness, direction, or decision.
- Remain calm, adaptable, discreet, and effective under pressure while managing sensitive, confidential, and high-visibility situations.
- Anticipate needs and potential conflicts, recommend or implement solutions before issues arise, and maintain visibility to competing priorities so leaders have the information and coordination needed to make informed decisions.
- Bring a high level of organization, communication, attention to detail, and follow-through to everything you do.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards and confidentiality across all discussions, matters, and initiatives.
Executive Team Support
- Own and proactively manage the CEO’s and other Management Team members’ complex calendars, evaluating competing demands and priorities while optimizing executive time, resolving conflicts, and making independent prioritization decisions within the scope of the role.
- Facilitate Management Team collaboration and shared work by coordinating meetings, maintaining information, supporting communication, and serving as a trusted point of connection with stakeholders across the organization.
- Exercise sound judgment in assessing requests, resolving conflicts, solving day-to-day challenges, and determining when issues require executive awareness, involvement, or direction.
- Create the structure and organization that help leaders use their time effectively and remain focused on the work that requires their attention.
- Coordinate leadership meetings, strategy sessions, offsites, and executive events, including scheduling and logistics, meeting materials, communications, documentation of decisions and actions, and follow-through on commitments.
- Manage complex domestic and international travel arrangements, detailed itineraries, receipt collection, and expense report preparation, and related administrative transactions accurately and on time.
Board of Directors Support
- Coordinate logistics for Board and Board Committee meetings, both virtual and in person.
- Serve as a key coordination point for Board member engagement with one another, the CEO, and the Management Team.
- Anticipate Board preparation, information, and logistical needs to support well-organized and productive meetings.
- Support the preparation, distribution, organization, and secure maintenance of Board books, presentations, governance documents, confidential records, and other meeting materials.
- Assist the Board Secretary and General Counsel with Board and Board Committee minutes, records, governance processes, and Board portal administration and documentation.
- Coordinate director travel, reimbursements, and administrative requests with professionalism and responsiveness.
More Ways You Will Have an Impact
- Serve as a principal liaison for Management Team members, coordinating communication, requests, and follow-up to help ensure the right people have the right information at the right time.
- Identify potential gaps, conflicts, dependencies, or emerging concerns and take appropriate action or bring them to leaders’ attention.
- Build trusted working relationships across functions and levels, collaborating with Information Technology, Administrative Services, Facilities, Finance, Human Resources, and Legal to support organizational needs.
- Respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries, providing information or directing requests appropriately based on broad knowledge of organizational procedures, protocols, and people.
- Identify opportunities to improve coordination, communication, and administrative processes that strengthen leadership effectiveness.
- Create and modify executive-ready presentations, communications, reports, and other business documents with a high level of proficiency.
Experience and Capabilities You Will Bring

- Experience supporting executive-level work styles and managing highly complex calendars, schedules, travel, and commitments.
