POSITION SUMMARY
The Event Care Teacher provides safe, loving, Christ-centered care for children during church events and activities. Through compassionate care and a welcoming classroom environment, the Event Care Leader helps children experience the love of Jesus while supporting parents and families as they participate in the life and ministry of First Baptist Atlanta (FBA).

MINISTERIAL FUNCTIONMinisterial functions of this role include:1.  Represent Christ and FBA through interactions with children, parents, staff, and volunteers.2.  Create a warm, welcoming, Christ-centered classroom environment.3.  Demonstrate biblical character, integrity, and a servant’s heart.4.  Help children experience the love of Jesus through attentive, compassionate care, recognizing each opportunity to serve a child and family as an opportunity for ministry.5.  Align personal conduct with the beliefs, values, and mission of FBA.

QUALIFICATIONS1.  Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to share the love of Jesus with children and help children grow in His love.2.  Must align with the beliefs, values, and mission of FBA.3.  Must have been a member of FBA for a minimum of six months at the time of application.
4.  Must be at least 18 years of age.5.  Must successfully complete a background check and MinistrySafe training.6.  Must complete a minimum of two weeks of volunteer service in an FBA classroom before being added to the Event Care Team.7.  Must support and model the culture, values, and service expectations of FBA.8.  Must demonstrate a warm, dependable, patient, and caring approach when working with children and families.9.  Must be able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with Event Care leadership and other team members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.  Provide a warm, loving, and safe classroom setting for children attending Event Care.2.  Care for children in a manner that reflects the love of Jesus, encourages their spiritual growth, and helps create a positive connection to the church.3.  Serve during Event Care opportunities associated with the church calendar, including Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., designated Sunday morning hours, and other scheduled church events.4.  Follow all Event Care, Preschool Ministry, safety, security, and child-protection policies and procedures.5.  Work cooperatively with Event Care leadership and other Event Care Team members to provide appropriate supervision and care.6.  Assist with classroom activities and age-appropriate engagement as directed.7.  Maintain appropriate cleanliness and order in assigned classroom areas.8.  Clean and disinfect the classroom after Event Care concludes.9.  Promptly communicate concerns, incidents, or needs to Event Care leadership.10.  Maintain reliability and punctuality for accepted Event Care assignments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical requirements described below are representative of those needed to safely and effectively perform the essential functions of this ministry position:
  1. Ability to actively supervise and engage with children in a classroom environment, including frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and sitting on the floor.
  2. Ability to lift and carry children and classroom materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
  3. Ability to respond promptly to children’s needs and move throughout classrooms and ministry areas as necessary.
  4. Ability to assist with age-appropriate care needs and classroom setup, cleanup, and sanitizing.
  5. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions of the position.
