Overview

  • Design, build, and maintain Service Catalog items, record producers, order guides, and catalog categories that support intuitive end-user self-service

  • Configure catalog variables, variable sets, UI policies, and catalog client scripts to create clear, guided request forms

  • Build and maintain request fulfillment workflows using Flow Designer and the Workflow Editor, including approvals, fulfillment tasks, and notifications

  • Administer and maintain the Employee Center (Employee Service Center) portal experience, including taxonomy, topics, quick links, announcements, and connected content

  • Configure and maintain portal pages, widgets, branding, and layout using Service Portal and the Now Experience UI Builder

  • Integrate Knowledge Management content into the catalog and portal to promote self-service and case/ticket deflection

  • Configure and tune portal and catalog search, including indexed sources, search profiles, and result relevance

  • Configure service level agreements (SLAs), approvals, and notifications tied to catalog requests

  • Partner with process owners and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into catalog offerings and portal content

  • Establish and maintain governance over catalog structure, naming standards, categorization, and content quality

  • Monitor catalog and portal usage metrics and self-service adoption, and recommend improvements to the user experience

  • Support ServiceNow license management and governance activities (e.g., user, app, API usage, custom tables)

  • Create and maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, and end-user how-to guidance for catalog and portal capabilities

  • Support platform upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance as they relate to the Service Catalog and Employee Center, testing and remediating issues and escalating complex issues to senior administrators as needed


Qualifications

  • DoDD 8570 01-M IAT II

  • Proficiency with ServiceNow Catalog Builder, including the guided, template-driven authoring experience for creating and managing catalog items, and the ability to apply it alongside classic catalog authoring as appropriate

  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and maintaining Service Catalog components - catalog items, record producers, order guides, variable sets, UI policies, and catalog client scripts and establishing governance over catalog structure, naming standards, categorization, and content quality

  • Proven ability to build and maintain request fulfillment workflows using Flow Designer and the Workflow Editor, including approvals, fulfillment tasks, SLAs, and notifications tied to catalog requests

  • Hands-on experience administering and configuring the Employee Center/Service Portal experience—pages, widgets, taxonomy, branding, and search relevance—using the Now Experience UI Builder to drive self-service adoption and case/ticket deflection

  • Experience integrating Knowledge Management content to support self-service, and partnering with process owners and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into catalog offerings and portal content

  • Experience supporting platform upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance testing and remediating issues and escalating complex problems as needed and producing documentation, SOPs, and end-user how-to guidance

Nice to Have

  • Must be DoW 8140 compliant under the Work Role Code 451 – Systems Administrator- Intermediate level or higher by 1 Oct 26. 

  • 3+ years of ServiceNow experience with a focus on Service Catalog and portal/Employee Center configuration and administration

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification; ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) and/or relevant micro-certifications (e.g., Service Portal, Now Experience UI Builder) strongly desired

  • Hands-on experience building catalog items, record producers, order guides, variable sets, and catalog UI policies/client scripts

  • Experience designing request fulfillment with Flow Designer and the Workflow Editor, including approvals and notifications

  • Experience configuring Service Portal and/or Employee Center, including pages, widgets, taxonomy, and branding

  • Experience integrating Knowledge Management to support self-service and deflection

  • Understanding of ITIL and request/self-service management best practices

  • Experience with ServiceNow On-Prem instance implementation, management, and troubleshooting

  • Knowledge of database management and SQL (MariaDB)

  • Proficiency in ServiceNow scripting languages (JavaScript, Glide/GlideScript) and web technologies (HTML, CSS, AJAX, AngularJS)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a focus on user experience

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
