Facilities Shift Engineer
Job Description Summary
The Facilities Shift Engineer is accountable for supporting the maintenance, and documentation of Data Centre operations and associated mission critical infrastructures toward the economy and maximum utilisation of facilities, equipment, and contract resources. The Facilities Shift Engineer ensures effective execution of processes and procedures for the uptime of the facilities, all contractor activities and maintains responsibility of projects and required maintenance best practices. He/she will be reporting to the Facilities Lead Engineer or Facilities Senior Engineer.
Job Description
About the Role:
- Execute and coordinate all aspects of24x7 data center operations, including the operation, maintenance, and repair of mission-critical equipment and systems to support uptime, compliance, and customer SLA requirements
- Support the maintenance of electrical and mechanical infrastructure in line with manufacturer recommendations, corporate standards, and industry best practices
- Manage contractors, service providers, consultants, and vendors to ensure maintenance, repairs, construction, and operational activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards
- Develop, review, implement, and auditMOPs, SOPs, EOPs, sequence of operations, and maintenance standards, while interfacing withBMS, CMMS, DCIM, and other systems to improve operational performance and energy efficiency
- Conduct inspections, facilities rounds, surveys, and root cause troubleshooting, while supporting reporting on operational performance, power quality, PUE, vendor scorecards, and other site metrics
- Promote a safe working environment by supporting OH&S compliance, permit-to-work controls, risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident reporting, while building confidence with customers on operational matters
About You:
- Technical trade license, certification, or equivalent technical training in electrical, mechanical, facilities, or a related discipline
- Preferably 3+ years of experience supporting24x7 data center operations or other mission-critical facilities, with working knowledge of both electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems
- Strong operational knowledge of critical systems includingswitchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, PDUs, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, fire detection and suppression, and BMS controls
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause investigation skills, with the ability to interpret complex operational documents, incident reports, and technical procedures
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work confidently with clients, internal teams, contractors, and service providers
- Proficiency withCMMS, DCIM, BMS, and Microsoft tools includingExcel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with strong organizational skills and attention to operational detail
