Job Description
Overview
The Senior Finance Business Partner will provide strategic financial leadership and commercial support to the Water Market, partnering with operational leaders, project directors, and senior stakeholders.
The postholder will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, project performance management, bid support, cash flow optimisation, and joint venture governance.
Your role
Business Partnering & Commercial Support
Act as a trusted adviser to the Market Director, Client Directors, Framework Leads, and Operational Managers.
Provide insightful financial analysis and challenge to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Participate in the delivery of robust annual budget, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
Analyse financial performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
Project & Programme Finance
Provide financial oversight across a portfolio of projects and frameworks.
Support project managers in financial management.
Conduct project reviews and ensure financial risks are identified, quantified, and mitigated.
Assist with bid reviews, pricing submissions, and commercial proposals.
Joint Venture & Framework Governance
Support the financial management of joint ventures, alliances, and framework arrangements.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, JV agreements, and governance requirements.
Support partner reporting requirements and stakeholder enquiries.
Implement and maintain robust financial controls within project and JV environments.
Financial Control & Reporting
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting activities.
Ensure compliance with IFRS, corporate policies, and internal controls.
Support external and internal audit processes.
Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting capability.
About you
A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent professional qualification.
Significant post-qualification experience in a Finance Business Partner, Commercial Finance, or Project Finance role.
Experience supporting complex project-based businesses within infrastructure, construction, engineering, utilities, or professional services sectors.
Strong understanding of project accounting, forecasting and revenue recognition,
Experience partnering with senior operational stakeholders.
Demonstrable experience coordinating budgeting and forecasting processes.
Strong commercial acumen and financial modelling capability.
Advanced Excel capability.
Knowledge of Oracle ERP would be beneficial.
Experience of joint venture accounting and governance would be beneficial.
