Job Summary:

As an Engineering HVAC/Electrical Apprentice, you will perform preventive maintenance on guest room heating, cooling, and related mechanical systems while supporting the operation of a world-class luxury resort. Working under the guidance of Engineering leadership, you will assist with the repair, installation, replacement, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration (HVAC/R), and electrical equipment. This role requires adherence to The Broadmoor's Five-Star and Five-Diamond service standards, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal impact on the guest experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Inspect HVAC and electrical equipment to ensure proper operation and report abnormal conditions to Engineering leadership.
• Perform preventive maintenance on guest room HVAC units and related systems, including cleaning equipment, lubricating motors, and replacing air filters as needed.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of mechanical rooms, equipment, tools, and work areas.
• Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts utilized.
• Follow all departmental, safety, and environmental policies while working efficiently and professionally.
• Develop proficiency in the use of trade tools, testing instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
• Utilize the Building Automation System (BAS) to monitor equipment performance, identify issues, and make operational adjustments under supervision.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and BAS documentation.
• Assist with the installation, repair, replacement, operation, and maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems.
• Support troubleshooting efforts by identifying and reporting HVAC/R equipment and control system deficiencies.
• Assist with water treatment procedures and preventative maintenance programs for applicable systems.
• Perform basic electrical maintenance, including resetting circuit breakers, wiring switches and outlets, and replacing lighting components.
• Maintain and repair interior, exterior, and landscape lighting systems.
• Assist with inventory management, including tracking and organizing parts and materials.
• Support the maintenance and repair of guestroom televisions, telephones, and related equipment.
• Assist Convention Services with electrical and power requirements for meetings, events, and special functions.
• Ensure complete compliance with The Broadmoor guidelines, operational procedures, safety policies, and institutional standards for excellence (Forbes Travel Guide and AAA Five-Diamond).
• Maintain a willingness to learn about The Broadmoor’s history, estate grounds, wilderness properties, culinary offerings, and retail outlets.
• Execute additional duties and responsibilities as required.

What we are looking for:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent.
• Previous experience in electrical and HVAC, general maintenance or hotel engineering is highly preferred; however, an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional background will be considered.
• A valid driver’s license is required, as this role may involve transporting equipment across the Resort. Please note that all employees operating Broadmoor vehicles must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation and email communication.
• A highly motivated team player who connects easily with colleagues and drives results through positive energy and seamless collaboration.
• Excellent communication skills, negotiation, conflict resolution and ability to work in fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs. with assistance and proper safety practices.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by the calendar of events.
