THE ROLE
Live out the love of Jesus across our city, so His name is welcomed with joy.
As Engage Director, you lead our efforts to make Hoboken Grace an integral part of the city, both locally and globally. You report to the Managing Director and help the people of Hoboken experience the love of Jesus through our events, our partnerships, simple acts of kindness and the intentional use of our space at 409.
You lead four teams: Bridge Events, 409 Events and Partnerships, with 40 team spots, plus Simple Service. Together you run the Christmas Exchange, the Easter Egg Hunt and 1Day, open our building to the community, support local and global partners and missionaries, and reach thousands of residents every year. You also look for every opportunity, through marketing and personal invitations, to welcome more first-time guests each week.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead, execute and continually improve the Engage strategy, including 409 Events
- Lead our three major bridge events (Christmas Exchange, Easter Egg Hunt and 1Day) and Night to Shine, using each event’s process manual and a “keep / improve” review afterward
- Manage department budgets and track department metrics
- Build and maintain partnerships with local and global organizations, including annual commitment forms, the Nonprofit Night dinner and local sponsorships
- Plan and lead global and local mission trips, and coordinate care and visits for our missionaries
- Represent Hoboken Grace at nonprofit, civic and city-wide events, and coach local nonprofits where helpful
- Grow Simple Service toward 21,000 touches a year through train-station outreach, weekly impressions and festival booths
- Open our space to the community: oversee external event bookings at 409, Story Time and lay-led ministries such as F3, Weekend Workout and MomCo
- Increase first-time guests through creative marketing and personal invitations, working with the Communications team
- Recruit, train and develop team leaders and apprentices for every team, with weekly leader meetings, quarterly one-on-ones and quarterly all-team huddles
- Grow volunteer teams by helping people serve in their God-given capacities
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Required
- A bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years of experience in event planning and team leadership, including leading other leaders
- Previous nonprofit experience, either managing or volunteering
- A proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Skill at developing leaders and managing volunteer teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to have
- Experience with budget management and strategic planning
- Experience leading mission trips
- Experience with Planning Center, Asana, Mailchimp and event registration tools
CHARACTER & COMMITMENT
