Job Title:Â Endpoint Migration Consultant - Quest ODM, Entra ID & Intune
Location(s):Â Troy, MI
Role Overview
The Endpoint Migration Consultant will provide hands-on technical support for an enterprise endpoint migration program, transitioning Windows devices from an existing client-managed environment to Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Intune. The consultant will support endpoint readiness, Quest On Demand Migration (ODM) execution, troubleshooting, migration waves, post-migration validation, and operational documentation.
Responsibilities
- Execute Windows endpoint migrations using Quest ODM across approved Hybrid AD/Entra ID and Entra-only scenarios.
- Support Quest Device Agent deployment, registration, Ready Device validation, ReACL, profile assignment, migration waves, cutover, remediation, and rollback activities.
- Validate users and devices before migration, including identity matching, connectivity, BitLocker recovery, local recovery access, endpoint security, application dependencies, and target-service readiness.
- Validate target Active Directory joins and OU placement, Entra registration or Hybrid Join, Intune enrollment, compliance, policy application, certificates, Windows profiles, network access, and critical applications.
- Troubleshoot Windows, Quest, Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, Group Policy Objects (GPO), authentication, DNS, user profiles, device registration, and connectivity issues.
- Monitor migration jobs, investigate failed or incomplete migrations, apply approved fixes, and retest affected endpoints.
- Collect and analyze logs and technical evidence, distinguishing device-specific issues from systemic concerns requiring escalation.
- Support production migration windows, command-center operations, hypercare, exception handling, and migration outcome reconciliation.
- Maintain runbooks, checklists, known-error records, knowledge base articles, validation results, exception records, and lessons learned.
Required Technical Skills
- Microsoft Platform: Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Hybrid Entra Join, and Entra-only devices.
- Migration Tooling: Quest ODM/ODMAD, Device Agent, Directory Sync, Device ReACL, migration profiles, and migration waves.
- Endpoint Engineering: Device enrollment and registration, user profiles, Group Policy Objects (GPO), PowerShell, and endpoint management fundamentals.
- Security and Access: BitLocker, Windows Hello for Business, PKI/certificates, authentication, and endpoint security.
- Troubleshooting: DNS and domain connectivity, policy processing, Intune registration, Windows logs, and migration logs.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Hands-on experience supporting enterprise Windows endpoint environments and large-scale endpoint changes or migrations.
- Practical experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, and Windows endpoint troubleshooting.
- Ability to follow detailed technical runbooks and execute controlled production changes within defined change windows.
- Ability to analyze migration failures, resolve known or repeatable issues, and escalate systemic concerns with complete technical evidence.
- Strong documentation skills, including technical findings, remediation steps, validation results, and migration outcomes.
- Experience collaborating across endpoint, identity, network, security, service desk, and application support teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting migration waves, command-center operations, and post-migration hypercare.
- Experience with enterprise endpoint migration tools and structured migration validation processes.
Role Boundaries
The consultant is expected to execute established migration processes independently, resolve known or repeatable endpoint issues, and provide complete technical evidence for escalations. Architecture ownership, significant changes to approved migration patterns, and systemic solution-design decisions remain the responsibility of the designated technical lead or architect.
Expected Outcomes
- Migration-ready endpoint populations with validated prerequisites and documented exceptions.
- Consistent execution of approved Quest ODM migration processes.
- Successful endpoint transition and validation across Active Directory, Entra ID, and Intune.
- Rapid identification, remediation, and escalation of migration failures.
- Accurate migration evidence, outcome reconciliation, and exception tracking.
- Repeatable troubleshooting guidance and knowledge base articles to support lower support tiers.
- Effective support for production migration waves, rollback activities, and hypercare.
Working Relationships
- Report operational status to the Endpoint Migration or Command Center Lead.
- Work closely with the designated technical lead or architect on design decisions and systemic remediation.
- Collaborate with IAM/AD, Intune/EUC, Network, PKI/NAC, Security, Service Desk, application teams, and migration-tool support teams.
