The DB Benefits Administrator – Pension Analyst is responsible for operational activities associated with defined benefit plans in accordance with plan provisions and established procedures. The role has a primary focus on calculating defined benefit pension benefits based on applicable plan specifications and providing accurate responses to call center questions related to pension calculations. The Administrator also supports participant data maintenance, payroll administration, plan documentation, and other defined benefit administration activities. The Administrator is expected to pursue continued professional education, including taking and passing applicable professional examinations.
What You Will Do
- Calculate defined benefit pension benefits accurately in accordance with applicable plan specifications, plan provisions, and established procedures.
- Research and provide accurate responses to call center questions related to pension calculations.
- Review plan provisions, participant data, and supporting documentation required to complete pension benefit calculations.
- Review and organize plan and participant documents to support efficient information retrieval.
- Perform assigned data-processing activities related to defined benefit plan administration.
- Process participant records, payroll information, pension data, data queries, and plan-related documents.
- Use applicable benefits administration systems to process participant requests within established service-level standards.
- Coordinate fulfillment of participant letters and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with defined benefit associates on day-to-day pension administration activities.
- Accurately record billable time to support correct client billing.
- Deliver accurate and timely service to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve defined benefit administration processes.
- Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support special projects and additional defined benefit administration activities as assigned.
- Pursue continued professional education, including taking and passing applicable professional examinations.
- Responsible for reviewing or validating calculations completed by others, add a responsibility such as: “Review and validate pension benefit calculations for accuracy and compliance with plan provisions
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- 1–2 years of work experience.
- Strong numerical, logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to calculation and data accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret plan provisions and apply plan specifications accurately when calculating pension benefits.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office or related software.
- Effective planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive client and participant information.
- 1–2 years of experience in defined benefit administration, Manual pension calculations, retirement benefits administration, or a related field.
- Ability to interpret pension plan documents, eligibility provisions, and benefit formulas.
What Will Set You Apart

- Experience calculating defined benefit pension benefits.
- Experience interpreting pension plan provisions and applying plan specifications.
- Experience researching and resolving pension calculation questions or discrepancies.
- Experience supporting participant records, pension data, or payroll administration.
- Relevant certification in U.S. employee benefits.
- Exposure to working on core manual calculations like death, disability, QDRO, RMD then it will add weightage.Â
