Do you love helping others? Are you understanding, attentive, and kind? Then this might be a great opportunity for you! We are currently looking for a full time Direct Support Professional Floaterto help the people we are supporting in our Employment programs.
The DSP Floater provides flexible support across all Employment and Transitional programs. This position works directly with individuals, assisting them in achieving their personal, employment, and community goals. The DSP Floater may work in different program areas or locations based on staffing and individual needs.Â
Requirements: Must have a valid CT Driver's License and vehicle with current CT registration and insurance, as driving is a requirement of the position. Must have a High School Diploma. CPR, First Aid, PMT and Med Certification are preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•   Provide direct support to individuals participating in employment and transitional programs.Â
•   Assist individuals with developing and maintaining job skills, workplace behaviors, and community skills.Â
•   Support individuals at job sites, volunteer opportunities, community activities, and program locations.Â
•   Encourage independence, choice-making, self-advocacy, and participation.Â
•   Follow individual plans, behavioral support plans, safety procedures, and organizational policies.Â
•   Provide coverage for staff who are absent or when additional staffing support is needed.Â
•   Assist with transportation, when applicable.Â
•   Promote positive relationships between individuals, coworkers, employers, and community members.Â
•   Complete required documentation, progress notes, attendance records, and incident reports accurately and on time.Â
•   Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity and privacy of individuals receiving services.Â
•   Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.Â
•   Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Career and Employment Services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•   High school diploma or equivalent
•   Must possess a license, auto registration, and vehicle insurance as driving is required
•   Knowledge of proactive thinking and positive supports.
•   Must be able to complete all essential job duties, minimum qualifications, and physical efforts with or without a disability.Â
PHYSICAL EFFORTS:Â
•   Frequent sitting, walking, standing, and driving.
•   Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of nonambulatory people
