EMS Chief / Clinical Team Leader

Location: Fort Irwin, California (National Training Center)


Facility Overview

Fort Irwin's National Training Center (NTC) is the U.S. Army's premier training environment, supporting large-scale combat simulations and mission readiness operations. The installation operates in a high-tempo, austere desert environment where medical services must align with real-world operational demands. EMS leadership plays a critical role in ensuring rapid response, clinical excellence, and seamless integration with military command structures.

Location: Fort Irwin, CA 92310


Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership for all EMS personnel supporting Fort Irwin NTC
  • Oversee daily ambulance operations, staffing, scheduling, and deployment readiness
  • Ensure compliance with local, state (California EMSA), and federal/DoD standards
  • Serve as the primary liaison with military leadership, integrating EMS into training and mission operations
  • Lead quality assurance / quality improvement (QA/QI) programs and clinical performance oversight
  • Supervise and mentor EMTs and paramedics, ensuring training, credentialing, and readiness
  • Coordinate emergency response planning for large-scale training exercises and mass casualty scenarios
  • Maintain equipment readiness, vehicle compliance, and supply chain management
  • Support after-action reviews (AARs) and continuous operational improvement initiatives
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

Required

  • Current EMT or Paramedic certification (California or ability to obtain reciprocity)
  • Minimum 3–7 years EMS experience, with leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of prehospital emergency care, protocols, and field operations
  • Experience in high-tempo or austere environments
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred

  • Prior U.S. Army, National Guard, or military medical experience (68W strongly preferred)
  • Previous experience as EMS Supervisor, Field Training Officer (FTO), or Clinical Lead
  • Familiarity with DoD systems, ICS, and mass casualty response
  • Certifications such as ACLS, PHTLS, ITLS, or NREMT-P
  • Experience supporting remote sites, industrial EMS, or government contracts
