Client is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance of software and firmware components for safety-critical avionics mission computer systems. This role involves working across the full system development life cycle and collaborating with software, FPGA, and hardware teams to deliver reliable embedded solutions.
The position focuses on embedded software development in C on the LynxOS/LynxElement Real-Time Operating System, supporting avionics applications through hardware integration, validation, certification, and ongoing system improvement activities.
Education Level: Bachelor + 16 years or Master's + 16 years
Core Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and debug embedded software components including device drivers, boot loaders, and built-in-test libraries for safety-critical avionics mission computers.
• Develop software in C targeting the LynxOS/LynxElement Real-Time Operating System.
• Collaborate with cross-functional software, FPGA, and hardware engineering teams to define and support system interfaces.
• Integrate custom-designed hardware and FPGA solutions with software in a laboratory environment.
• Support software documentation, defect resolution, and system performance validation activities.
• Participate in requirements reviews, code reviews, and certification activities to ensure compliance with applicable quality and safety standards.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, application users, and technical support personnel as needed.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
• Experience with embedded software development involving device drivers, boot loaders, and built-in-test software.
• Proficiency in C programming.
• Experience developing software for the LynxOS/LynxElement Real-Time Operating System.
• Ability to collaborate across software, FPGA, and hardware engineering disciplines.
• Experience integrating hardware and software systems in a laboratory environment.
• Experience supporting testing, debugging, documentation, and performance validation activities.
• Ability to participate in requirements and code reviews supporting certification, quality, and safety objectives.
