Essential Job Functions:
Proofpoint Platform Management
- Administer, configure, and maintain the Proofpoint Email Security Gateway (Email Protection).
- Manage and fine-tune advanced threat modules, including Targeted Attack Protection (TAP), TRAP (Threat Response Auto-Pull), and Impersonation Protection. (Good to have- Not Mandatory, might require in future)
- Develop and enforce Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Email Encryption policies within Proofpoint to protect sensitive data. (Good to have- Not Mandatory, might require in future)
- Serve as the primary technical expert for email-related security incidents.
- Analyze and respond to security alerts from Proofpoint, M365, and other security tools.
- Perform in-depth email header analysis to trace message origins, identify spoofing attempts, and assess message authenticity.
- Conduct malicious attachment analysis (sandboxing/detonation) to determine the nature and risk of suspicious files.
- Investigate suspicious emails (phishing, malware).
- Manage email security rules, including blocklists, safelists, and custom mail flow rules. (
- Work closely with the M365 team to manage and troubleshoot email flow (connectors, transport rules) between Exchange Online and Proofpoint.
- Understand and help configure core email authentication protocols: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
- Assist in managing security features within Exchange Online Protection (EOP) and Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
