Electrical Engineer β Industrial / EPC
Job Description
Nesco Resource is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support a large-scale industrial engineering and capital project in Houston, TX. This position will work onsite and collaborate closely with electrical designers, engineers, project managers, procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines.
The ideal candidate will have strong industrial electrical engineering experience with a background supporting EPC, chemical, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, energy, or other heavy industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review electrical engineering deliverables for large industrial and capital projects.
- Develop and review single-line diagrams, power distribution systems, electrical equipment layouts, and electrical design packages.
- Perform electrical calculations including load flow, voltage drop, short-circuit, and protective device coordination.
- Design and support low- and medium-voltage electrical systems.
- Develop electrical specifications and data sheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers, motors, VFDs, and related equipment.
- Perform cable, wire, and conduit sizing and associated electrical calculations.
- Review vendor drawings, equipment documentation, and technical submittals.
- Develop and review electrical construction and installation specifications.
- Coordinate electrical engineering activities with designers and other engineering disciplines.
- Support equipment selection, procurement activities, and technical bid evaluations.
- Provide technical support during construction, startup, and commissioning.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with NEC, applicable codes, project specifications, and engineering standards.
- Work closely with project teams to resolve technical issues and maintain project schedules and deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 6+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in industrial environments.
- Strong experience with industrial electrical power systems and distribution.
- Previous EPC, engineering consulting, or large capital-project experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, energy, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of NEC and applicable electrical codes and standards.
- Experience with low- and medium-voltage power distribution.
- Experience developing electrical calculations, equipment specifications, engineering deliverables, and construction documentation.
- Strong multidisciplinary coordination and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar electrical engineering analysis software.
- Experience supporting construction, commissioning, and startup.
- PE registration is a plus, particularly for senior-level candidates.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The strongest candidates will be industrial Electrical Engineers who have worked on EPC or major capital projects and can independently handle electrical engineering deliverables from design through construction/commissioning.
