The Transmission Practice is seeking an Electrical Designer, Distribution to join our growing Power Delivery team in Bellevue, Everett, Seattle, orWoodinville, WA.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced engineers and designers to support overhead and underground electric distribution projects for utility clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional seeking to build a career in utility infrastructure and power delivery.
What You’ll Do
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the design and development of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
- Prepare engineering plans, drawings, specifications, and supporting project documentation.
- Perform engineering calculations and quantity takeoffs.
- Support field investigations, site visits, and data collection activities.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, and utility clients to deliver high-quality project solutions.
- Assist in maintaining project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Develop technical expertise through mentorship, training, and hands-on project experience.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
- 1-4 years of professional experience supporting electric utility, power delivery, or electrical distribution projects.
- Experience preparing engineering plans, drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Working knowledge of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and design practices.
- Strong interest in developing a career in this field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel periodically for field assignments and client meetings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with utility clients, consulting engineering firms, or utility contractors.
- Familiarity with utility design standards and construction practices.
- Desire to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
