Overview / Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical BIM Designer to support the design and development of electrical systems for data center and other advanced facility projects. This position is open to candidates located anywhere in the United States, with a preference for individuals located near one of our Client's 140+ US locations.
The Electrical BIM Designer will be responsible for developing and managing Revit BIM models, preparing construction drawings, and coordinating electrical designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Working under the direction of electrical discipline and project leads, the successful candidate will help translate engineering design concepts into accurate, coordinated, and constructible deliverables.
- Develop, maintain, and manage electrical Revit BIM models in accordance with company and client standards.
- Create and update 3D models and 2D construction drawings using Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, process, telecommunications, and other engineering disciplines.
- Support the development of fully coordinated, clash-free 3D models.
- Translate engineering design concepts, markups, and verbal instructions into detailed construction documents.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, designers, and discipline leads to resolve design conflicts and ensure constructability.
- Follow established BIM modeling procedures, design specifications, and project standards.
- Assist with estimating design and modeling hours based on project requirements, markups, and direction from project leads.
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and coordination meetings.
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality throughout the design and documentation process.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of electrical design experience using Revit.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in electrical systems design and the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of electrical design principles, applicable codes, and industry standards.
- Understanding of design and construction specifications and their application to engineering deliverables.
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring, cabling, circuits, and equipment connections.
- Experience following client-specific design and BIM modeling standards.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar document review and markup software.
- Ability to estimate design and modeling hours based on markups, project requirements, and verbal instructions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, software platforms, and design practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting data center design and construction projects.
- Knowledge of electrical power distribution, cable routing, and lighting systems.
- Familiarity with electrical one-line diagrams and electrical system layouts.
- Experience using Navisworks and AutoCAD for design coordination and documentation.
- Experience developing coordinated 3D BIM models for complex industrial or mission-critical facilities.
