$26.89 - $39.22Job Description:This position exists to assist in and provide leadership, direction, technical expertise and coordination in accounting functions for the college. A thorough knowledge of the college's accounting system(s) (Workday and ISRS/Web Accounting) is required as well as the ability to handle complex accounting functions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as well as federal, state, and Minnesota State colleges and universities policies and procedures. Provides accounting direction, training, and guidance to business office staff, grant coordinators, and all other college employees. Provide fiscal oversight for all grant activities. Accountable for analyzing, monitoring, reporting, and administering grants which are highly complex and technical in nature. Responsibility extends to determining allowability of expenditures and making recommendations for withholding of funds or other consequences. Work is completed independently under limited supervision. Senior management places a high level of reliance on this position to identify and communicate all fiscal issues of importance.
Salary Range:
$26.89- $39.22 hourly, $56,146-$81,981 annually
*Salary placement is dependent on education and experience
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a high degree of technical skills as well as communication, leadership, management, and business skills. An expert knowledge of accounting, financial management and analysis techniques sufficient for strategic business planning, problem identification and resolution are essential.
- 1 year professional or 3 years of technical/administration experience or equivalent experience in these areas; Professional knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and standards, including GAAP and fund accounting
- Ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks with timelines, critical thinking skills sufficient to analyze and interpret accounting processes.
- Budgeting principles sufficient to prepare, monitor, and review department or activity budgets.
- Computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing and databases
- Experience maintaining effective working relationships with senior administration, cost center managers, grant program coordinators, system office finance staff, and the public
- Ability to analyze and interpret Federal/State grant procedures and policies sufficient to ensure compliance and accurate financial reporting, budget development, and grant renewals
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience with Minnesota State colleges and universities or higher education accounting (or comparable) systems sufficient to access, interpret, evaluate data, and develop financial reporting procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds and commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Communicate in writing sufficient for drafting technical reports or legal and financial documents and for general business correspondence.
- Experience providing work direction to individuals and/or groups
- Experience reviewing and/or writing contracts
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work):
