About the role

We're looking for an experienced and motivatedFinancial Counsellor to join our dedicated Moneycare team inGeelong, Victoria.

In this rewarding role, you'll provide financial counselling, advocacy, and tailored support to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship or seeking to prevent financial difficulties before they arise. You'll work alongside clients to navigate complex financial situations, access support services, and build long-term financial wellbeing.

Reporting to the Moneycare Manager, this is apermanent full-time opportunity where your expertise and compassion will have a genuine impact on the community.

Conditions

Salary and conditions are in accordance with theSCHADS Award Level 5 (dependent on qualifications and accreditation).

What you'll be doing

• Deliver high-quality, client-centred financial counselling to individuals and families experiencing financial stress and hardship

• Build trusted relationships and empower clients to make informed financial decisions with confidence

• Assess financial circumstances and develop practical, tailored action plans to achieve sustainable outcomes

• Connect clients with community services, supports and financial assistance programs that meet their needs

• Advocate on behalf of clients with creditors, utility providers and other stakeholders to resolve financial issues

• Manage a caseload and regularly review client progress, adapting support strategies to maximise outcomes

• Contribute to a supportive and collaborative team committed to transforming lives

What you'll bring

• Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling)

• Accreditation as a Financial Counsellor, or willingness to obtain accreditation

• Demonstratedfront line, client-facing experience, with the ability to engage, support and build rapport with people experiencing vulnerability or financial hardship

• Experience working within community services, social services, financial counselling, or a related sector

• Strong understanding of the causes and impacts of financial hardship, financial exclusion, and social disadvantage

• Exceptional communication, advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills

• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and life experiences

• A currentVictorian Employee Working with Children Check
