POSITION:EDUCATION SPECIAL NEEDS SPECIALISTREPORTS TO: ECUATION SPECIAL NEEDS MANAGERPAYRANGE LEVEL:16.0PROGRAMFUNDS:   GAAN/A WICN/A HS60%MHS40%FLSA STATUS:NON-EXEMPTSUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:NONESCHEDULE:FULL-TIMEREVISIONDATE:09/12/2025 GENERALPOSITIONSUMMARY:Under thesupervision of the Education Special Needs Manager, this position will followHeadStartPerformanceStandards,all AgencyandProgrampolicies and proceduresandapplicableFederal and Stateregulations to successfullyaccomplish AgencyandProgramgoalsandobjectives.Participate fullyand workcooperativelyas a team member; undermanagementguidanceaddress complaintsand resolveproblems effectivelyandefficiently.  ESSENTIAL JOBRESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures program compliance with all applicable laws and regulations on areas of responsibility described above
  • Updates and develops plans, systems, policies and procedures and forms that support program services in education and special needs
  • Monitors timely screenings and assessments for education and special needs. Ensures referrals and follow-ups and identifies needs, including support as needed to meet program requirements
  • Monitors classroom curriculum fidelity and other support services related to education and special needs
  • Monitors collection and maintenance of records and data pertinent to education and special needs. Support the preparation and submission for all reports as required, including the annual Program Information Report (PIR)
  • Provides support and technical assistance to center staff and others related to the assigned area.
  • Communicates and works cooperatively with managers, center directors and other coordinators to ensure successful integration of services
  • Participates fullyand workscooperativelyas a teammember within the Child & FamilySupport department, theprogram and theagency:addressescomplaints and works to resolve problems effectivelyandefficiently
  • Maintainconfidentiality with informationandrecordsconcerningchildren,families andstaff
  • Travel frequently withinprogram service areaincluding possibleovernightstays, asrequired
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of position classification
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • AssociatesDegreeor higher in Sociology, Early ChildhoodEducation,Human Development or relatedfield.
  • Threeor moreyears ofexperienceworking withchildrenandfamilies in aneducation, health orsocialservicessetting.
OtherRequirements
  • State regulationsrequire a physicalexamination,current tuberculosistest, andverifiedfingerprintandcriminalrecordsclearancebefore beginning work.
  • Bilingual,bi-literate, English/Spanish,English/Punjabi,English/Hmong, and/orotherlanguage abilitybased onprogramneeds isrequired.
  • Education must have previouslyincluded or must be able to successfully completecourse work inchildabuse, substance abuseand domestic violence within oneyear ofdate of hire.
  • Possession of avaliddrivers'license;current personalvehicleinsurance, orsafe drivingrecordsufficient toensure insurabilitythrough Agencypolicy. Must be able to drive toconduct agencybusiness.
