Medical Doctor – Emergency Room

Provide direct physician care in Balad, primarily supporting local national employees through evaluation, treatment, preventive care, stabilization, and continuity of care.

At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. As a Medical Doctor supporting the Emergency Room, you'll provide onsite medical care primarily for local national employees, evaluating and triaging patients, diagnosing illness and injury, treating acute and chronic conditions, and coordinating follow-up care.

You'll also support employee medical evaluations, testing and immunizations, maintain accurate medical records, and help stabilize and coordinate care for patients who require a higher level of medical services.

Position Title:Iraqi Trained Medical Doctor – Emergency Room

Assignment Location: Onsite in Balad, Iraq

Local Hire Eligibility: This position is designated for Iraqi nationals based in Iraq.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and triage patients, diagnose illness and injury, and provide treatment for acute and chronic conditions.
• Develop treatment plans; prescribe and administer medications, treatments, and therapies; manage the site formulary; order, perform, and interpret testing and analyze relevant records and reports.
• Provide follow-up care and maintain accurate patient health information, histories, and medical records.
• Conduct employee medical evaluations, including annual physicals, medical testing, and required immunizations, and ensure applicable U.S. and host-country medical-clearance requirements are met.
• Stabilize patients requiring higher-level care and coordinate medical evacuation, referral, and patient handover with external medical resources when needed.
• Collaborate with medical staff to support continuity of care, clinical mentoring, established clinical guidelines and procedures, and mass-casualty exercises.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Iraqi medical school or international equivalent school.
• Current license or certification required to practice medicine in Iraq.
• Minimum of three years of experience as a physician.
• Current direct patient-care experience, including at least six months of work in the field during the past 12 months.
• Fluent in both English and Arabic, verbally and in writing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Proficiency with information technology, including electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and remain composed in stressful situations.
• Ability to obtain medical clearance and maintain current required immunizations.
• Valid passport from your country of record before relocation and throughout your time in Balad.
• Ability to push, pull, or carry a minimum of 50 lbs.

Preferred

• Experience supporting healthcare services in a military or government-operated environment.
