Position Summary
The Technical Services Librarian/Instructor oversees cataloging, government documents, systems, and book repair while providing reference instruction and liaison services to support the academic mission of the university community.Â
Essential Job DutiesÂ
• Oversees all cataloging, classification, and processing of library materials in all formats.Â
• Administers library systems including OCLC Cataloging and Metadata, FOLIO ILS, and SpringShare LibApps.Â
• Supervises the repair of damaged materials.Â
• Serves as a Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) liaison.Â
• Creates and maintains LibWizard forms for department operations.Â
• Provides instruction on library use and research skills in classroom, online, and reference desk settings.Â
• Serves as liaison to academic departments for research and collection development.Â
• Collaborates with faculty on information literacy curriculum development and special projects.Â
• Participates in university and library committee work.Â
• Maintains current knowledge of emerging trends and best practices through professional development.Â
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.Â

QualificationsÂ
• Master's of Library Science from an ALA accredited program - experienced librarians, recent graduates, andcurrent students from ALA-accredited MLS programs are encouraged to applyÂ
• 1-2 years of experience preferredÂ
• Experience with cataloging preferredÂ
Licenses/CertificationsÂ
• NoneÂ
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesÂ
• Strong knowledge of principles and practices of academic librarianshipÂ
• Familiarity with ILS software, AACR2, RDA, Library of Congress Classification, and Library of Congress Subject Headings preferred Â
• Experience with budget management and vendor relations preferredÂ
• Excellent oral and written communication skillsÂ
• Strong organizational and time management abilitiesÂ
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective instruction and reference servicesÂ
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and studentsÂ
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and library software applicationsÂ
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example Â
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the communityÂ
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsibleÂ
• Ability to communicate in a courteous mannerÂ

This position operates in a typical office setting within an academic library environment. The work environment hasÂ
moderate noise levels from conversations, and office equipment. The role involves regular interaction with staff, students, and library patrons.Â
Supervisory ResponsibilityÂ
Oversees the work of experienced professionals and subordinate managers, removing obstacles within and across theÂ
organization to achieve objectives. May oversee the development of new methods, resolve issues, and regularly adviseÂ
teams on complex matters.
