GEICO is seeking an experienced senior software engineer with a passionfor building high-performance,low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation and platform engineering domain modernization as we redefine experience for our customers.  
  

Position Description  
Our Senior Software Engineer works with our Distinguished Engineer and Staff Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve, and enhance existing systems as well asidentify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead thestrategy andexecution of a technical roadmap that will increase thevelocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep technicalexpertise inengineering best practices,extensive experience withDevOps, proventrack record indesigning and implementinghighly scalable and available solutions, as well as owningproductionservices and applications. 

  
Position Responsibilities  
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:  

• Collaborate with product managers,internal & externalbusiness partners, peers, and other engineering teams to solvecomplexproblems inourpartner integration platform 

• Contribute toour technical roadmapand execute software developmentstrategytoenhance the capabilities ofvarious platform components. 

• Champion software development best practices and safe deployment processes to enable continuous, incremental delivery of business values. 

• Contribute directly to and leading by example in day-to-day engineering activities (writing feature code and automated tests, raising PRs and reviewing peers’ PRs,developing and managing CI/CD pipelines, production support, among others) 

• Act as a technical project lead andcollaborate with partnering teams as well ascommunicatewithcross-disciplinestakeholders on a regular basis 

• Leverage data to measuresuccess,identify opportunities, and recommend solutions. 

Qualifications  

• Advance knowledge of at least one modern OOP language(Go ispreferred,.Net is a plus) 

• Extensivefirst-hand experiencedesigning, implementing, andmaintaining highly scalable,available and reliable system in production 

• Strong Test-Driven Development practices (e.g., unit, functional, integration, load, etc.)  

• In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms  

• Understanding of security best practices (e.g., certificates, encryption)  

• Familiarwithrelational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc. 

• Familiar with No-SQL databases like Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis,etc.  

• Experience in architecting, designing, building automation, workflows, and distributed applications 

• Strong understanding of service integrations/communication standards (e.g.,gRPC/RESTful) 

• Experienceinbuilding andmaintainingCI/CDwithIaaC 

• Experienceinsolvingcomplexproblems with quantitative approach 

• Knowledge of development tools across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, test automation and related tools, operations, real-time communication)  

• KnowledgeofKubernetes,containers, and best practices on a K8s environment (including K8s operators) 

• Experience in open-source tools like Git/Jenkins/CircleCI, and knowledge in Terraform/Ansible is a plus  

• Experience in supportinghigh-volumeproduction workloads and managing incidents 

• Excellent communication skills  

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment 

Experience:  

• 4+ years of professional experience in software development 

• 3+ years of experience with architecture and design 

• 3+ years of experience with Azure,AWS, GCP,or hybrid data center  

• 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks  

Education:  

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience 

Annual Salary

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
