Job Description

MUSC Health Great Falls Primary Care is seeking aPhlebotomy Technician to join our medical clinic team. This position plays an important role in supporting quality patient care by collecting blood and urine specimens accurately, safely, and efficiently while providing a positive experience for every patient.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, compassionate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.

What You'll Do

• Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens according to established procedures.
• Ensure all patient specimens areproperly labeled, documented, handled, and transported in accordance with laboratory and organizational requirements.
• Maintain properchain of custody for specimens when required.
• Collect and process chain-of-custody urine drug screens and other urine specimens as needed.
• Deliver specimens to the appropriate location for storage and processing in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with providers and back-office staff regarding patient care and specimen collection.
• Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate service to patients throughout the collection process.
• Follow established safety, infection prevention, and specimen-handling procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical and appropriate behavior at all times.
• Assist with other clinical and administrative duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position reports to thePractice Manager for day-to-day operations and communicates primarily through verbal communication and email. The Phlebotomy Technician works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and back-office team members to support efficient clinic operations and quality patient care.

Additional Job Description

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• 0–6 months of experience; relevant phlebotomy training or clinical experience is preferred.

Credentials:

• Completion of anaccredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
