Title:Early Education Coordinator
Reports To:Director of Kids Cove

Position Summary:
The Early Education Coordinator oversees childcare for approved Cove Church events and ministries, ensuring safe, organized, well-staffed, and Christ-centered environments. This role coordinates staffing, scheduling, worker supervision, event logistics, curriculum support, family communication, supplies, and childcare administration while partnering closely with the Director of Kids Cove and church staff.
Requirements:
Doctrinal/Theological:
- Must support Cove Church’s Christ-centered mission and represent the church with professionalism, warmth, integrity, and a servant’s heart.
- Must approach childcare as ministry, helping young children experience God’s love and begin building a foundation of faith.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience coordinating childcare, early childhood ministry, or a related setting; demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff.
- Strong organization, communication, scheduling, and problem-solving skills with attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to recruit, onboard, coach, and hold paid childcare workers accountable to established standards.
- Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with families, staff, and childcare workers.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain and maintain required certifications and training.
- Flexibility to work Sunday mornings, select weekday ministry events, and other approved childcare needs.
Specific Responsibilities:
Childcare Operations & Staffing
- Coordinate childcare for Sunday mornings and approved church events, meetings, classes, and ministries; determine staffing, rooms, schedules, check-in needs, and event logistics.
- Maintain and schedule a reliable pool of paid childcare workers; communicate expectations, secure substitutes, and proactively resolve staffing gaps.
- Ensure childcare spaces are clean, safe, welcoming, appropriately prepared, and consistently operated according to established procedures.
Worker Supervision & Administration
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and supervise paid childcare workers; coordinate background checks, child-protection training, and required certifications.
- Provide coaching and performance follow-up; address attendance, reliability, professionalism, and other concerns in accordance with Cove Church policies, including disciplinary or employment actions when appropriate.
- Collect and review biweekly timecards and submit accurate records to the Staff Accountant by established payroll deadlines.
- Maintain schedules, staffing and training records, worker availability, childcare calendars, policies, and other necessary documentation.
Curriculum, Families & Environment
- Partner with the Director of Kids Cove to prepare age-appropriate Sunday curriculum and faith-building experiences for children age three and younger, and coordinate MomCo KidCo curriculum and structure.
- Serve as the primary family contact for approved events outside Sunday morning services and holiday events; communicate policies, schedules, and event information and respond to questions or concerns.
- Maintain childcare rooms and supplies, including routine/deep cleaning, room preparation, inventory, approved purchasing, and identification of repair or replacement needs.
- Continually evaluate childcare systems, communication, staffing, and family experience and recommend improvements to the Director of Kids Cove.
Time Commitment:
This 20-hour-per-week position combines direct childcare and environment preparation with staffing, scheduling, recruitment, training, curriculum preparation, event coordination, parent/staff communication, payroll coordination, and administrative work. The schedule varies with ministry needs and may include Sunday and Monday childcare coverage, weekday office hours, and select additional events.
