Role summary:

The Senior Manager, Architecture provides architectural leadership, design program management, and standards governance across the Industrial portfolio, including Ambient, Fulfillment, Grocery, and Transportation. This role connects Design Integrity & Continuity with Industrial Design & Construction to strengthen design consistency, prototype standards, specifications, project execution, and brand consistency across formats. The role will also develop and standardize Industrial specifications and enterprise specifications across Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Industrial.

The Design Integrity & Continuity team connects enterprise design strategy with the standards, governance, and partnerships that bring it to life. The team drives design and brand consistency across formats, strengthens architectural and document quality, and turns lessons learned into scalable standards and solutions across Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Industrial.

Through architectural leadership, design governance, and continuous improvement, the team helps ensure design intent carries from strategy through execution while evolving standards to meet the needs of the business. This role offers the opportunity to lead beyond individual projects and help shape how we design, standardize, and continuously improve our environment.
What you'll do:

• Provide architectural leadership and professional judgment across design, constructability, code, standards, documentation, and execution.
• Lead Industrial design program management, aligning decisions, risks, dependencies, deliverables, and stakeholders.
• Develop and govern prototype architecture, construction documents, specifications, and repeatable solutions that improve consistency and scalability.
• Standardize Industrial and enterprise specifications across Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Industrial.
• Partner with design professionals, consultants, and Design & Construction teams to strengthen quality, accountability, and execution.
• Establish design governance and change management across programs.
• Translate lessons learned into improved standards, specifications, documentation, and processes.
• Foster design excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring:

• Strong architectural expertise and professional judgment with experience supporting complex, multi-project retail and/or Industrial portfolios.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional design projects and programs and managing deliverables, decisions, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder alignment.
• Strong understanding of architectural documentation, specifications, constructibility, building codes, prototype standards, and quality expectations.
• Experience developing and applying design standards, prototype documentation, specifications, and repeatable architectural solutions.
• Working knowledge of BIM workflows, Revit, AutoCAD, and CADD-based architectural documentation.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates, build strong partnerships, and influence across functions and leadership levels.
• Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills grounded in trust, clarity, and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Architect (RA) in a U.S. jurisdiction; NCARB Certificate.
• CSI Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) and/or Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) certification.
• Architectural Services – CADD Certification.
• Experience supporting large-scale Industrial, Supply Chain, distribution, fulfillment, logistics, or complex retail facilities.
• Experience leading prototype architecture, repeatable design solutions, and architectural specifications across multiple facility types or programs.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
