Dental Services Specialist

Job Purpose and Basic Function:
Responsible for providing administrative and patient coordination support across multiple dental service areas. Cross-trained to provide coverage for Dental Care Coordination, Dental Referral Coordination, and Portable Dentistry Coordination as needed to support departmental operations and ensure continuity of patient care.

Description of Primary Responsibilities and Duties
1) Coordinates patient care and related services.
a) Assists patients by providing information regarding appointments, treatment plans, referrals, insurance coverage, and follow-up care.
b) Coordinates patient scheduling, referrals, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and related documentation assigned.
c) Communicates effectively with patients, providers, specialty offices, schools, and other community partners to support continuity of care.
2) Coordinates administrative functions and workflow.
a) Assists with administrative functions including referral tracking, obtaining required records, preparing patient documentation, and monitoring workflow.
b) Supports reporting, data collection, and other departmental administrative responsibilities.
3) Provides operational support across dental services.
a) Provides support across the Dental Care Coordinator, Dental Referral Specialist, and Portable Dentistry Coordinator functions as needed.
b) Assists with portable dentistry events, community outreach activities, and departmental projects.
c) Patient Services Assistant back up when coverage is needed for phones and patient registration.
