Brief Pub Description (Used in Acoustic Email)

We’re making a significant investment in transforming The Dr Syntax into the go-to community pub in Prudhoe and are looking for a new partner to make this pub come to life.

Pub Overview

Community Pub with Potential

Dr Syntax is a family friendly community pub in the centre of Prudhoe, south Northumberland. Prudhoe is approximately 11 miles west of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and predominately a commuter town for Newcastle. The pub is located on the main thoroughfare through the town centre, alongside a mix of shops and other local businesses and surrounded by residential properties. Dr Syntax is enjoyed by the local community, who visit for a drink, Sunday lunch and entertainment in the form of live sports, live music, discos and pub games.

There is excellent opportunity to build on the existing food offer and further develop the events calendar to drive trade and make the pub the go-to choice in town.

BDM’s Vision:

With development of the food offer and more varied events calendar Dr Syntax has excellent opportunity to become the hub of the community both day and night.

Community Focused Operator Wanted

We are looking for an operator with drive and a passion to be part of the community. Experience in running a successful pub is preferable, but alternatively strong transferable business skills are also desirable. You must have the ability to develop trade through fresh ideas for the entertainment and food offer.

Private Accommodation

The private accommodation consists of multiple bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom. Where required there will be appropriate works carried out in line with the Star Pubs & Bars Ready to Trade promise.

Trading Area & Facilities

Internally, Dr Syntax has a well-maintained traditional pub decor with appealing features including an open fireplace, feature wallpaper and a rich colour palette giving it a cosy, welcoming feel. The pub is one wide large open plan room, with a dancefloor at one end, the bar on the back wall and a pool table at the other end. The pub has a commercial kitchen, able to cater for 52 covers.
Upstairs there are six rooms and two bathrooms, which are currently unused but could be used as letting rooms.

Externally, Dr Syntax is a red brick traditional two-storey building with good kerb appeal. There is a beer garden and courtyard with picnic benches to the rear - excellent space for adding extra appeal in the summer months. In addition there is a good sized car park to the side of the pub.
