Door Maintenance Technician – Commercial Doors | Northern VA area
Sylvester's Dock & Door is a fast-growing, privately owned dock equipment and commercial door service company with 15+ years of operation. We recently expanded to theWashington, DC metro area and are growing our team of skilled commercial door technicians to serve customers throughoutNorthern Virginia, Maryland, and the DC area.
We service a wide range of commercial customers — warehouses, distribution centers, government facilities, car dealerships, apartment complexes, cold storage facilities, and more — and we're looking for an experienced commercial door technician who takes pride in quality work and reliable service.
What You'll Do
As a Door Technician, you will independently manage a daily route of service calls, installations, and preventive maintenance for commercial customers throughout the DC metro area. Responsibilities include:
- Install, service, troubleshoot, and repaircommercial overhead doors,sectional doors,high-speed doors,rolling steel doors, andfire doors
- Service and repairdock equipment includingdock levelers,dock seals and shelters,dock bumpers, andrestraints
- Install, adjust, and repaircommercial door operators,access control systems,gate operators, andrelated hardware
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues with door systems and operator components
- Completedigital work orders via company-issued phone and tablet
- Maintain a clean, organized company service vehicle and tool inventory
- Communicate professionally with commercial facility managers, maintenance directors, and warehouse personnel
- Adhere to allOSHA safety standards and company safety protocols
What We're Looking For
- 1–3+ years of hands-on commercial door experience required — overhead doors, sectional doors, high-speed doors, dock equipment, or related field
- Experience with brands such asRytec, Assa Abloy, Overhead Door, Amarr, Clopay, LiftMaster, Chamberlain, BEA, or similar preferred
- Ability to read and interpretwiring diagrams and perform basic electrical troubleshooting
- Strong mechanical aptitude — experience with springs, cables, tracks, and hardware adjustment
- Valid driver's license with clean MVR required — must be comfortable navigating theDC/NoVA/Maryland market
- Ability to work independently, manage a route, and communicate with customers
- Comfortable working at heights, in varying weather conditions, and in industrial/warehouse environments
- IDEA or DHI certification a plus but not required
