The Company: Deluxe Cinema
Deluxe Cinema, a wholly owned subsidiary of Platinum Equity, is the leading provider of a broad range of entertainment industry services and technologies. We offer complete film and digital solutions for production, post-production, major studio and independent theatrical release, broadcast, home entertainment, archiving and asset management. Deluxe operates facilities in major film, video, and digital production markets around the world.
The Department: Digital Cinema Distribution
The Deluxe Cinema Distribution Group is responsible for the distribution of all digital content to theaters on behalf of major cinema studio clients. These responsibilities include both digital cinema and non-digital cinema content types, delivered electronically and physically. The group is also responsible for a variety of delivery support functions such as physical distribution inventory management, electronic delivery network management, digital cinema key management and distribution, and a 24/7/365 exhibitor support call center. The groupâs goal is to advance technology within the theatrical delivery space to stay ahead of our clientsâ ever-evolving distribution needs.
The Role: Distribution Network Operations Center (DNOC) Technician - Live Events
We are looking for a motivated team member to join us in a âbehind-the-curtainâ role that brings a variety of live events to movie theaters across North America. The DNOC Technician - Live Events role is the front line of theatrical support for live events: preparing participating theaters ahead of each event, supporting them in real time while the event is on screen, and keeping our records accurate in between. This is an early career position: weâre looking for 2+ years of technical customer service, NOC, or equivalent experience/education, but no prior satellite or e-delivery experience is required; new operators are trained on our satellite and e-delivery networks during onboarding.
Schedule:
- Live events average 3â5 per month, typically last around 5-7 hours, and usually take place during evening hours and on weekends.
- All live event support is performed in office; non-event work follows a hybrid schedule of 2 days in office and 3 days working from home.
- When weekend work is required, operators are notified of schedule changes at least one week in advance, and schedule adjustments are open to discussion.
- Pre-event theater testing and day-to-day DNOC operations take place during the normal work week.
Responsibilities:
Before Events
- Coordinate and schedule pre-event tests with participating exhibitors.
- Remotely configure theater-side equipment to receive live event content.
- Provide technical support and validation for participating theaters during pre-event test windows.
During Events (On-Site)
- Answer inbound calls from theaters and resolve live event issues in real time.
- Respond to event support requests received by email.
- Post regular status updates in the teamâs chat.
- Troubleshoot reception and playback issues across the satellite and e-delivery networks, escalating as needed.
Between Events
- Maintain accurate records across the systems where DNOC data is kept.
- Perform regular audits of records and data.
- Contribute to post-event reporting.
- Remotely support the installation and ongoing maintenance of DNOC equipment at theaters.
- Support day-to-day (non-event) DNOC distribution operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve content delivery issues for theaters.
- Perform time-sensitive content management tasks.
- Complete assigned maintenance tasks to keep the network healthy.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn the satellite and electronic (e-delivery) content distribution networks; training is provided during onboarding.
- Availability to work on-site in the office for each live event (3â5 per month, typically evenings and weekends).
- Exemplary phone, email, and customer service skills, including staying calm and clear under live-event time pressure.
- Ability to understand operational workflows and procedures in a technical environment that uses multiple systems and platforms.
- Strong attention to detail in records, audits, and reporting.
- Knowledge of database workflows, ticketing systems, and information management.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of work.
- Ability to prioritize and pivot quickly between tasks.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
- Prior experience in customer support, technical support, or a help desk role.
- Experience in a NOC or similar operations environment.
- Familiarity with satellite delivery technologies such as VSAT, RF modulation, multicast, and IP encapsulation.
- Familiarity with digital cinema (DCP) and theater playback equipment.
- Experience with Linux CLI, SSH, RDP, RAID, and/or AWS.
- Experience working with networked systems, appliances, or servers in a LAN environment.
- Experience writing or maintaining technical documentation.
