Position Overview The Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference of The United Methodist Church is seeking a District Administrator to provide high level administrative and operational support for the TWK UMC Southwestern District. 

As a member of the District Leadership Team, the District Administrator provides administrative leadership and coordination, helping to ensure that district. This position works closely with the District Superintendent, Associates to the District Superintendent (A2Ds), clergy, laity, local churches, and Conference staff. 

This position is administrative in nature and does not include pastoral, supervisory, or clergy-related decision-making responsibilities.  There are two District Administrators who support the district and this vacancy is to fill one of those positions. 

Key Responsibilities 
  • Serves as a member of the Southwestern District Leadership Team.
  • Manages district office operations, calendars, meetings, correspondence, and workflows.
  • Coordinate and distribute district communications and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential district, clergy, church, and committee records.
  • Oversee data entry, reporting, and information management within the Mission Connect database.
  • Coordinate administrative processes related to clergy status, appointments, and District Committee on Ordained Ministry.
  • Coordinate Charge Conference scheduling, communications, documentation, and reporting.
  • Support Annual Conference, clergy consultations, statistical reporting, and other district processes.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the District Superintendent and Associate to the District Superintendents.
  • Serve as a primary administrative contact for a designated group of churches.
  • Process vouchers and other administrative documentation accurately and timely.

Required Qualifications 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Administrative or office management experience.
  • Database or information management experience.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, committees, or complex organizational processes.

Work Environment 
This is a remote position which requires the ability to participate in virtual meetings and conduct work without frequent interruptions or distractions.  
  • Must live in the geographical area of the TWK UMC’sSouthwestern District. 
  • Must have reliable high-speed internet connection. 
  • Ability to maintain an environment free from background noise during calls and team meetings. 
  • Requires regular virtual communication with the District Superintendent, Associates to the District Superintendents, clergy, laity, local churches, and Conference staff.
  • Requires a workspace that has sufficient privacy for confidential conversations and information. 
  • Technology and systems to perform the responsibilities of the position will be provided by the TWK UMC Conference.
  •  Occasional travel to Conference office or other locations within the district may be required for meetings, training, Annual Conference, Charge Conference activities, or other district and Conference events.
