Project Manager, Disaster Reconstruction

Job Summary
The Project Manager Disaster Reconstruction (PM) leads multiple disaster recovery and reconstruction projects across a portfolio of stores. The PM oversees reconstruction projects—including ground-up construction, rebuild, and rebranding work—to ensure Extra Space Storage properties are restored to “like kind and quality” following a loss event. The PM manages all activities related to assigned reconstruction projects and reports directly to the Director of Disaster Reconstruction and Consultant Services.

The PM partners with stakeholders, and site staff to minimize operational impact during reconstruction and provides regular updates throughout all phases of the work. The PM collaborates with Risk Management, external architects/engineers, internal real estate professionals, construction managers, development managers from asset strategy, facility service management, operations partners, legal partners, and outsourced consultants during the entire project life cycle.

The PM contributes to the project team from feasibility through completion, developing scopes of work, estimates, budgets, competitive bids, and contracts during the pre-construction phase. During construction, the PM manages budgets, project schedules, and quality, and establishes and maintains effective communication throughout the project life cycle.
