Experience
- 18–22+ years overall experience
- 8–10+ years leading enterprise-level Quality Engineering functions
The Director – Quality Engineering will be accountable for engineering quality, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance acrossmission‐critical digital platforms, operational systems, and managed services.
This role ensures failures areprevented rather than detected late, and that all solutions delivered into live operations are resilient, secure, compliant, and suitable for24×7 high‐availability environments. In regulated, high-impact domains, Quality Engineering serves asenterprise risk management by design.
Core Mandate
Engineer quality into systemsearly, continuously, and measurably, across both internal teams and SI‐led delivery, without slowing transformation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Quality Engineering Strategy
- Define and own the enterprise QE strategy aligned with safety, reliability, regulatory, and resilience expectations
- Shift from inspection-based QA toengineering-led quality by design
- Establish QE as a core engineering discipline rather than a gatekeeping function
- Ensure quality coverage across core operational systems, customer-facing platforms, and data/integration layers
- Define and enforce standards for high availability, fault tolerance, and graceful degradation
- Ensure systems fail safely and recover rapidly
- Embed quality early through requirement reviews, architecture validation, and risk-based testing
- Drive automation-first QE including API, integration, performance, resilience, and chaos testing
- Eliminate reliance on late-stage manual regression
- Retain accountability for quality even when delivery is SI-led
- Define quality standards, KPIs, and governance for partners
- Embed QE expectations into contracts, SOWs, SLAs/XLAs, and release governance
- Ensure SIs deliver outcomes, not just test artifacts
- Ensure compliance with BFSI, aviation, utilities, and infrastructure regulations
- Build audit-ready quality evidence into delivery pipelines
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Security teams for traceability, explainability, and defensible releases
- Establish standards for performance, load, failover, recovery, and security testing
- Ensure release readiness includes run-book validation, cutover, rollback, and operational scenarios
- Define meaningful metrics such as defect leakage, incident-to-release linkage, automation effectiveness, and post-release stability
- Deliver CXO-level insights rather than low-level test statistics
- Use data to influence delivery, architecture, and investment decisions
- Lead and mentor QE Managers, Leads, and Principal Engineers
- Foster a culture where engineers own quality and QE enables speed with safety
- Build strong communities of practice for QE excellence
Essential:
- Senior leadership experience in Quality Engineering within large, complex environments
- Proven expertise in mission-critical, regulated, or high-availability systems
- Strong knowledge of Agile, DevSecOps, automation-led quality, and non-functional risk management
- Experience governing large-scale SI-led delivery
- Exposure to digital transformations under regulatory scrutiny
- Experience with large managed services programs
- Engineering degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
