Job Description:

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

Strategic Leadership and Warehouse Network Development

  • Define the warehouse network strategy, including locations, service territories, capacity, inventory deployment, and owned, leased, or 3PL operating models. Evaluate project demand, transit times, total cost to serve, working capital, and business continuity.
  • Lead new warehouse implementation programs from business case and site selection through layout, racking, equipment, staffing, systems, operating procedures, commissioning, and stabilization; deliver approved budgets, schedules, and readiness criteria.
  • Build a repeatable launch model beginning in Frisco; validate storage density, dock and yard capacity, operating hours, labor requirements, and throughput against actual material dimensions and demand.
  • Partner with Procurement, Supply Planning, and project leaders on pooled inventory, replenishment, project reservations, allocation priorities, kitting, surplus redeployment, and returns.

Warehouse Operations and Safety

  • Own receiving, inspection, put-away, storage, preservation, picking, packing, shipping, and reverse logistics across direct-operated and 3PL warehouses; maintain consistent procedures and physical security.
  • Partner with Environmental, Health and Safety teams to establish safe traffic flow, material handling, equipment training, incident response, and applicable storage requirements; ensure operational readiness before new materials are accepted.

Inventory Management and Financial Controls

  • Be accountable for inventory accuracy and complete, timely inventory value reporting across company warehouses, 3PL locations, and company-owned inventory within vendor-managed programs; partner with Finance on valuation and financial close.
  • Establish SOX-controlled processes for receipts, transfers, issues, returns, cycle counts, physical inventories, adjustments, and write-offs. Maintain segregation of duties, access controls, approval evidence, audit trails, and corrective actions.
  • Reconcile physical inventory, WMS records, ERP inventory subledgers, and the general ledger with Finance; resolve discrepancies and provide accurate month-end reporting of balances, movements, in-transit inventory, aging, and excess or obsolete inventory.
  • Apply Finance-approved ownership, cutoff, costing, and reserve policies; distinguish company-owned, supplier-owned, consigned, customer-owned, and project-allocated stock. Support auditors and ensure 3PL reporting meets company control requirements.
  • Provide company-wide oversight of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), including program standards, replenishment rules, ownership and consumption triggers, count accuracy, supplier performance, reconciliation, and exit or surplus arrangements.

Technology Roadmap and Systems Implementation

  • Champion the warehouse technology roadmap and serve as business owner for WMS and inventory capabilities, including barcode scanning, mobile transactions, lot or serial traceability, location control, and operational reporting.
  • Partner with IT, Finance, Procurement, and Field Logistics to select and implement solutions integrated with ERP, source-to-pay and receiving systems, including Ivalua, and 3PL platforms. Define transaction ownership and prevent duplicate receipts or postings.
  • Lead business requirements, process design, master data readiness, testing, user training, cutover, and adoption; ensure failed interfaces, transaction exceptions, and access changes are monitored and resolved.

Transportation and Field Logistics Integration

  • Manage inbound supplier traffic and outbound shipments to project sites, including FTL, LTL, and parcel movements; coordinate appointments, consolidation, carrier capacity, delivery tracking, freight claims, and invoice review.
  • Set warehouse-to-field handoff standards with dotted-line Field Logistics teams for project release, pick and pack confirmation, advance shipping notices, bills of lading, packing lists, in-transit tracking, proof of delivery, and same-day site receiving.
  • Ensure shipment, transfer, and receipt transactions reconcile by item, quantity, unit of measure, location, and project; resolve shortages, damage, rejected deliveries, returns, and receiving exceptions with site teams.
  • Coordinate domestic and international logistics providers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers as needed to support compliant delivery and resolve escalations.

Supplier and Contract Management

  • Source, negotiate, and manage 3PL warehouse operators and transportation providers with Procurement and Legal; establish service levels, rate structures, inventory liability, reporting obligations, audit access, and performance reviews.
  • Drive supplier inbound packaging standards and warehouse outbound packaging standards covering protection, pack quantities, palletization, labeling, barcodes, documentation, safe handling, and field usability; measure damage and packaging waste.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop four Regional Logistics Specialists; set daily coordination and transaction responsibilities, workload coverage, performance expectations, and escalation paths.
  • Recruit and manage warehouse leaders and personnel as operations expand; establish staffing models, training, succession plans, and clear accountability across direct employees and 3PL teams.
  • Provide functional standards, training, and performance feedback to Field Logistics through dotted-line relationships; coordinate priorities with field operational leaders to support construction schedules.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Establish performance measures for inventory accuracy, transaction timeliness, on-time and complete delivery, dock-to-stock time, pick accuracy, freight and handling cost, damage, utilization, inventory aging, and safety.
  • Own warehouse and logistics budgets and forecasts; report performance, inventory value, control exceptions, network investment needs, and improvement priorities to leadership and Finance.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • 7+ years of progressive warehouse, inventory, logistics, or supply chain experience, including 3+ years leading teams and multi-site operations or network expansion.
  • Demonstrated success launching warehouses and developing network or distribution strategies, including facility readiness, staffing, budgets, and operating procedures.
  • Proven ownership of inventory accuracy, reconciliations, financial reporting support, and internal controls in a SOX-controlled or comparably rigorous audited environment.
  • Experience leading WMS implementation or major transformation and integrating warehouse transactions with ERP, receiving, and financial systems.
  • Experience managing both 3PL warehouse providers and company-employed warehouse teams, including provider negotiations and service-level performance.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation, industrial material handling, packaging, pooled inventory, VMI, and project-driven fulfillment; EPC, construction, energy, or industrial distribution experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Relevant supply chain or continuous improvement certifications preferred.
  • Ability to travel regularly and provide sustained on-site leadership during warehouse implementation and stabilization.
