Job Description

REVA is one of the largest fixed wing air ambulance operators globally and provides medical transport services on 24/7/365 continuous basis. The Director of Medical Operations Directs and oversees the organization's medical program, to include medical case management, and community health education programs with the goal of providing high-quality, cost-effective health care services. Establishes in conjunction with the Director of Medical Compliance clinical guidelines for care designed to improve outcomes while managing costs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and at least 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilitiesinclude the following:

  • Directs and oversees all medical management.
  • Establishes overall standards, policies, and objectives for the clinical and administrative functional areas in accordance with applicable regulatory and licensing requirements; ensures alignment and support with overall mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director of Medical Compliance to establish, monitor, and oversee quality management activities for patient care, treatment and services delivered to patients
  • In charge of employee files and responsible for notifying employee of expiring Visas, passports, and licensing.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director of Medical Compliance in being responsible for overseeing and monitoring the regulatory compliance at the State and Federal levels, as well as, preparing and participating in accreditation and facility licensure surveys.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director of Medical Compliance in ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and regulations including but not limited to those of local, state, and federal authorities, the accreditation EURAMI, NAAMTA, and OSHA as well as standards of Nursing Practice, PALS, BLS, ACLS.
  • Oversees development, review and evaluation of decisions effecting policies and procedures, program planning and integration of company goals and objectives.
  • Directs evaluation and improvement of nursing activities focused on quality, appropriateness, efficiency, and effectiveness of care in consideration of the body, mind, and belief systems; ensures nursing practices comply with established standards and regulatory requirements.  
  • Attends weekly in senior leadership and department head meetings.
  • Develop all comprehensive training for medical personnel to maintain all standards and projected needs of the department.
  • Supervises/training all medical coordinators, department supervisors.
  • Participates in interview process for all medical personnel.  
  • Collaborate on all hiring, training, and continuing education for all medical personnel.  
  • In conjunction with the Director of Medical Compliance, develops and maintains clinical policy and procedures (to be reviewed by medical director).  
  • Delivers disciplinary counseling to medical employees.
  • Attends all quarterly staff meetings.
  • Participates with all medical department inspections and audits.
  • Evaluates the need for medical department improvements.
  • Participates with the sales department, represents medical team in customer facing medical education/discussions.

 

 

  • Reviews department needs for equipment, supplies and personnel.
  • Maintain operations within the annual budget.
  • Hold monthly department supervisor meetings.
  • Collaborate and integrates with all department heads, specifically the REVA Operations Center and Aviation department.
  • Fosters professional development and leadership to all clinical staff including management team.
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • FAA Drug and Alcohol Supervisor.
  • Serve as a liaison between medical staff, administration, and external partners.
  • Provides 24 hour on-call Resource Manager coverage.
  • Maintains an active flight status.
  • Optimize resource allocation, including staffing, equipment, and facilities.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align medical operations with organizational goals

  • Nursing Degree required. Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • State Licensure as a Registered Nurse.  
  • Minimum of 5 years of ICU/ED/Trauma experience within the last 10 years.
  • Previous medical transport experience required.
  • Required to maintain an active passport.
  • Encouraged to have previous leadership experience in an ICU/ED/Trauma, or similar senior clinical role.
  • Drug Screen and a background investigation required.
