Position Summary
The Director of Financial Aid provides strategic and student-centered leadership in the Office of Financial Aid. This key position provides oversight for all financial aid operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations while delivering high-quality service to students. The Director is a critical member of the Enrollment Management leadership team.
The Director develops effective processes, supports a collaborative team environment, and promotes access to financial resources that help students achieve their educational goals. The Director reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management.Â

Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the financial aid office operations
- Work closely with financial aid staff to establish goals and procedures to ensure compliance in all aspects of financial aid processing
- Prepare and maintain annual financial aid budgets, implement packaging and awarding policies consistent with meeting the College’s enrollment, discount rate and net tuition revenue goals
- Responsible for updating and maintaining the College’s PPA/ECAR with the Department of EducationÂ
- Coordinate the processing and completion of the FISAP, CT State Grant, IPEDS, NCAA reports, and all other external and College reporting requestsÂ
- Responsible for responding to all borrower defense cases
- Administer federal, state, and institutional aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional polices and compliance guidelines
- Ensure confidentiality and storage of student records according to federal, state and institutional guidelines
- Initiates and performs the annual setup/update of systems for financial aid processingÂ
- Work collaboratively with other offices of the College including Traditional Undergraduate Admissions, Professional and Graduate Studies, Athletics, Enrollment Management Operations, Business Office, Academic Affairs and Finance officesÂ
- Develops and manages communications with prospective and current students and their families
- Work with Finance Office on internal, state, and federal audits
- Develop, maintain and update financial aid consumer information for the College
- Manage awarding of all studentsÂ
- Serve as liaison between the Financial Aid Office and the Athletic Department
- Counsel students and families on all aspects of financial aid and assist with overflow processing
- Serve at various campus events, financial aid presentations on and off campus, and serve on institutional committees as assigned
- Maintain proficient knowledge of all aspects of financial aid regulations and industry practices
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates Financial Aid staffÂ
- Complete all R2T4s
- Final review for all professional judgment appeals
- Review and make decisions regarding SAP appeals
Required Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment

- Strong people skills
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Required (Master’s Degree preferred)
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience of increasing responsibility in Financial Aid at an accredited higher education institution
- Experience managing and maintaining budgets
- Supervisory experienceÂ
- Experience with enrollment management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technical proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of various federal and state financial aid compliance rules and regulations
- Knowledge of PowerFAIDS, Slate, Navigate, Datatel Colleague System, ELM, or DHS SAVE System preferred
- Experience working with traditional and non-traditional college students and their families
- Knowledge of Title IV systems (i.e. COD, NSLDS, CPS, etc.)Â
- Experience developing and maintaining procedure manuals
- Familiarity with Single Compliance Audits
Work Schedule and Flexibility
Regular schedule:Â Work hours are typically Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some late evenings and weekends are required for recruitment events and other college related activities.
Hybrid eligibility:Â Yes. If eligible, hybrid work may be considered after 90 days, subject to position requirements, supervisor approval, and College policy.
Benefits and Work-Life Highlights
COMPENSATION
Wage/Salary Range:Â $85,000-$105,000 annually
The range shown is the College's good-faith wage range for this position. The final offer will be based on relevant experience, education, skills, internal equity, and budget considerations.
