GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Director of Engineering leads execution of prototyping and solution support activities as the technical interface to BD and Customer Ops. Owns technical proposal content (BoEs, estimates, Technical Volumes), value propositions, and customer‑aligned demonstrations. Coordinates closely with the VP of Product Development on technical direction and execution priorities; manages small teams to deliver prototypes, capture technical feedback, and validates solution feasibility.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads prototyping projects to support customer discovery, early validation, and demos. Documents feedback and lessons learned.
- Provides input to product roadmap alignment to customer roadmap and requirements mapping.
- Provides technical support to capture efforts: writes and reviews BoEs, estimates, technical volumes, and value propositions.
- Coordinates on budgeting with the Production Leadership for resource planning and shared infrastructure requirements.
- Develops performance standards for direct reports and evaluates their performance to ensure alignment with PLEXSYS policies, organizational objectives, and contributions toward those objectives
- Attends conferences and tradeshows to support capture efforts, and to present the organization’s technical solutions and white papers.
- Leads technical reviews and authorship contributions for cross functional business proposals. Contributions include requirements analysis, basis of estimates (BOEs), customer engagement and collaboration.
- Drives solution and technology exploration in support of proposals and early validation, estimates related to the corporate strategic growth initiatives.
- Collaborates with  platform and shared library owners, ensures prototypes and solutions leverage common infrastructure where feasible.
- Coordinate with Export Compliance and serves as technical point-of-contact for CUI and Classified engagements.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, a Master of Science and/or MBA is preferred
- Minimum of eight (8) years of software development experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of team management experienceÂ
- Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading and managing diverse software development teams and engaging customers to ensure outcomes met or exceeded requirementsÂ
- Excellent written and oral communication for non-technical audiences, demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Promote and adhere to PLEXSYS core valuesÂ
- Ability to travel periodically to provide on-site Engineering and Development support and for meeting with current and potential customersÂ
- Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects

Desirable
- At least two (2) years of experience supporting capture and proposal exercises
- At least two (2) years of progressive professional software development experience at PLEXSYS with experience managing software development projectsÂ
- Experience working with modelling and simulation software products and conceptsÂ
- Military experience in a Command and Control or Intelligence Reconnaissance and Surveillance career fieldÂ
- Familiarity with SISO and DMO StandardsÂ
AUTHORITY
- Ability to obtain and maintain aminimumSecret level security clearance, Top Secret preferredÂ
- Hiring and firing authority within assigned team and in coordination with HR
- Signature authority as defined within the PLEXSYS policy
