About the Role:

The Director, Materials & Inventory, owns the flow of material into, through and out of Maverick Power's factories. The role makes sure the right parts are in the right place, in the right quantity, at the right time to support the production plan, on-time delivery and margin objectives.

As a rapidly scaling manufacturer of engineered-to-order electrical control and power distribution systems, Maverick Power cannot run a predictable factory without accurate inventory and disciplined material flow. This leader builds that foundation through standard work, clear ownership and reliable systems, not expediting and heroics. The role owns receiving, warehousing, materials handling, kitting, line-side replenishment and inventory control across all sites.

The Director is a working leader: data-driven at the desk and hands-on at the dock and on the floor. They partner closely with Production, Production Planning and Purchasing so that shortages surface early, line-downs become rare, and every count in the system can be trusted.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic & Organizational Leadership
    • Set the materials and inventory strategy for all sites, aligned with the operations plan, capacity expansion and enterprise growth.
    • Serve as the single accountable leader for inventory accuracy, material availability and materials-driven production disruptions.
    • Translate operations objectives into clear, measurable expectations for site materials leads and teams.
    • Build Materials into a scalable, repeatable function that supports high-mix ETO/CTO production and new site or line launches.
    • Act with urgency on today's shortages while building the systems that prevent tomorrows.
  • Inventory Control & Accuracy
    • Own the integrity of inventory records across every site, stockroom and line-side location.
    • Design and run a standardized cycle count program, with root-cause analysis and corrective action on every significant variance.
    • Lead annual physical inventory and partner with Finance on reconciliation, reserves, and excess and obsolete (E&O) reviews.
    • Enforce transaction discipline in the ERP: receipts, issues, transfers, returns and scrap recorded accurately and on time.
    • Maintain optimal inventory levels that protect production while reducing excess, obsolete and slow-moving stock.
  • Receiving, Warehousing & Material Flow
    • Own receiving, put-away, storage, picking, kitting and delivery of materials to the production floor.
    • Standardize receiving and inspection hand-offs with Quality so nonconforming material is caught at the dock, not on the line.
    • Design warehouse layouts, location control and replenishment methods that shorten travel, reduce handling and support flow.
    • Implement Lean materials practices such as kanban, supermarkets, point-of-use storage and vendor-managed inventory (VMI) where they fit.
    • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics and inter-site transfers to support the production schedule.
  • Shortage Management & Production Support
    • Run a daily shortage and material-readiness cadence with Production, Production Planning and Purchasing.
    • Establish clear escalation paths so material risks surface days ahead of the build, not at the workstation.
    • Ensure kits are complete and on time to the line for each job, and track kit completeness as a leading indicator.
    • Support new products, projects and capacity expansions with material plans timed to the volume ramp.
  • Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
    • Serve as the business owner for materials and inventory processes in the ERP/MRP system, including any upgrade or migration.
    • Develop and publish materials KPIs and use the data to drive structured problem solving and cost savings.
    • Champion Lean principles, standard work and continuous improvement as daily operating behaviors.
    • Promote a safe working environment through proper material handling, storage, equipment use and hazardous materials practices.
  • Leadership, Culture & Team Development
    • Build and lead a multi-site materials organization with clear roles, expectations and development paths.
    • Develop site materials leaders who show Extreme Ownership, sound judgment and the ability to work at the right level of detail.
    • Reinforce Maverick Power's core values in daily leadership behaviors:
      • Bring Your Best by setting high standards for accuracy and owning outcomes
      • Get the Job Done thrugh urgency, discipline and follow-through on every shortage and variance
      • Win as a Team by partnering with Prduction, Planning, Purchasing, Quality and Finance with mutual respect
      • Deliver "WOW" by getting the right material to the line every time
  • Recognize and reward teams for building proactive, predictable systems and developing people.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in materials, inventory control or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment.
