Work Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM PST

Job Description:
We are looking for a DevOps/System Engineer to support systems administration, infrastructure, operations, maintenance, automation, and system engineering activities.
Responsibilities
  • Engineer systems administration-related solutions for project and operational needs.
  • Install and rebuild servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage.
  • Support virtualization platforms including VMware and KVM.
  • Manage storage platforms including NetApp, Dell/EMC, and PureStorage.
  • Support infrastructure automation tools, including Ansible.
  • Support Foreman deployment management.
  • Manage system inventory using GLPI.
  • Manage network equipment including Cisco and Mellanox.
  • Install and configure systems supporting infrastructure and R&D activities.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Configure and maintain storage equipment and troubleshoot with vendors.
  • Configure/install EDA tools and FlexLM licenses and troubleshoot software tool issues.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards and security posture.
  • Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks.
Operations & Support
  • Install and maintain security patches on operational and development systems, including Red Hat Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, Windows 2008/2k8R2/2k12, VMware, and Apache web services.
  • Report security patch compliance.
  • Perform daily system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
  • Review system and application logs and verify scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify possible intrusions.
  • Perform daily backup operations and ensure required file systems and system data are successfully backed up.
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts as required.
  • Provide Tier III/other support and investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
  • Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Maintenance
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly.
  • Upgrade administrative tools and utilities and configure/add new services as necessary.
  • Manage existing and/or deploy new instances of Jira, Git, LDAP, Jenkins, and VMware environments.
  • Upgrade and configure system software supporting infrastructure and Asset Management applications.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, and other procedures.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support and/or work alternative schedules as required.
Job Requirements
  • Especially high skill level in VMware administration and management, including Jenkins, Git, and DevOps tool administration.
  • Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Linux+, such as CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA, or RHCE preferred.
  • Network equipment management; Cisco equipment preferred.
  • 7+ years of system administration experience in Linux environments.
  • Proficient in shell scripting, creating cron jobs, analyzing log files, managing user accounts and groups, configuring iptables, and setting up mail services.
  • Proven ability to multitask.
  • Independent and self-starter.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • CompTIA Security+ (SY0-301) or other DoD 8570.1 Workplace Improvement Plan IAT Level II compliant certification required, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with web-based technologies, including reverse proxy servers, SSL certificate configuration, three-tier architecture, service-oriented architecture, enterprise service bus, HTTP, and differences between browsers.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to move servers to and from the main DC, colocation, and labs.
  • Install new hardware or migrate existing servers, including rack and stack.
