Role: Design Quality Engineer (Charger)

Department: New Product Development     Location: Bengaluru, India     Experience: 3+ Years

Your Team:

You'll be working with New Product Development — a group that runs on coffee and an infectious passion for building products that have never been built before. Our Flexible Energy Stack consists of the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station), which unlock 15-minute rapid charging.

Our philosophy:

Break. Believe. Build.

Break stuff, break assumptions, break the thumb rule.

Believe in the team, the process, and through failures.

Build fast, build passionately, build to simplify.

Own it like you mean it.

What you’ll own:

We are seeking a Design Quality Engineer to own design-stage quality for our charger product line, ensuring architectural and component-level decisions meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements before they reach manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have strong DFMEA experience, a solid grounding in power electronics, and comfort working directly with hardware design teams to catch issues early.

What you’ll do:

Design Quality & DFMEA

  • Lead DFMEA for charger hardware and subsystems across development stages
  • Review component selection and system architecture against specification intent
  • Identify design-stage failure modes and drive mitigation with design teams
  • Own design verification plan (DVP) definition for charger architecture

Validation & Testing

  • Define acceptance criteria and quality checkpoints for design validation testing
  • Review test reports and coordinate closure of design-related non-conformances
  • Support environmental, safety, and performance validation of charger hardware

Failure Analysis & Field Feedback

  • Analyze field and system-level issues traced to design or component decisions
  • Author Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) documentation to support Service diagnosis post-launch
  • Drive design improvements based on field failure trends

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Interface with hardware, firmware, and process quality teams across the charger product lifecycle
  • Participate in design reviews and gate reviews as the quality voice

What you’ll bring:

  • Education qualification
  • B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or related engineering field
  • 3-6 years of experience in design quality or product development quality engineering
  • Strong understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, and design-for-reliability principles
  • Working knowledge of power electronics and high/low voltage system fundamentals
  • Comfortable reading and reviewing electrical schematics and component datasheets

Preferred Experience (Good to Have):

  • Prior experience in EV charging, power electronics, or automotive electronics products
  • Exposure to fault tree analysis and service diagnostics documentation
  • Familiarity with relevant EV charging standards (e.g. IEC 61851)

What matters to us:

  • Quality of work
  • Structured problem-solving
  • Dissatisfaction with mediocre work
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a dynamic working environment
  • Resilient attitude to bounce back after failing
