- Provide Technical leadership to the Project Engineers, Project Leads and the cross-functional teams.
- Reporting to the Project Engineer / India Project Manager, work on all aspects of Power train delivery on our future vehicle programs.
- Lead and mentor the design engineers and collectively deliver the whole vehicle specification targets:
- Component and system level packaging and concept studies including feasibility
- Work in collaboration with the Project Engineers to identify and specify design activity required
- Component and system design and detailing from prototype to production to internal and external design standards including GD&T
- Check the content of designs for release against the specification, the data integrity of CAD geometry and resolution of build concerns prior to sign-off
- Be the point of contact for the rest of the design community for day-to-day engineering matters
- Identify opportunities to reduce complexity, cost and weight
- Communicate progress and critical issues to the Project Leader, Project Engineers and the Liaison Engineer
- Technical Specifications - Ensure the design of all components meets the Technical Specifications
- Interpret DFMEA requirements for significant and critical characteristics and ensure the design satisfies these
- Must ensure the design is weight efficient, weight targets are surpassed, and the weight is documented accurately. This encompasses material selection and innovative design.
- Should assist Design & Project Engineer in specifying & controlling materials of each component to meet vehicle spec book targets, technical specifications & all legal & component DVP requirements.
- DFA / DFM - Experience/Knowledge is must
- Experience on 1st Engineering Concepts / Design Concept, attending Design reviews .
- Discussion with Design team, Project team, Supplier for Design feasibility / freezing, and update the design relevant documents (DFMEA, Clearance reports, etc)
- Engineering Release - Meet all defined engineering release dates with all specifications, weight and cost targets achieved, supplier DFM fully concurred, CAE output implemented, materials & finish defined, all fixings identified & positioned & all outstanding BCR's (Build Concern Reports) are embodied & documented at point of release
- Have On-Site / Off -Site review with required team for Build supply till J1.
- Support Virtual build, Proto build, VP build, HTF Build, TT build, PP build.
- Preparing RFQ's / ESOW's for new components.
- Discussing with PD / Buyer / Supplier for Proto Build supportability, Raising of orders for Proto Build supportability.
- BOM updating / Approval of cost for new components & PO release.
- Reviews with Suppliers for Product development, Build Support, Supply issues.
- APQP review with suppliers / PPAP approvals.
- ECR / ECN - its approvals, implementation for under development components & running components.
- Coordination with CAE for Fuel System Component
- Patented parts understanding & selection (Valves etc)
- Testing-s - (DVP/PVP) Part Level & Vehicle Level, Execution / Coordination for Homologation.
- Complete Development process of Fuel System Components
- Blowing Moulding Manufacturing, Complete Assembly Process Understanding / Knowledge
