Deputy General Manager Nuclear Engineering

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the Nuclear Engineering department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective engineering solutions for nuclear pump applications within defined timelines, in externally constrained environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership & Project Ownership

• Own end-to-endtechnical responsibility for nuclear project pumps
• Lead preparation ofdesign concepts, technical proposals, and tender documentation
• Participate inpre-order technical discussions with customers
• Ensuredesign compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications post-order
• Oversee fullexecution lifecycle, ensuringon-time delivery in complex and constrained project scenarios
• Provide technical leadership during:
  • Manufacturing
  • Inspection & testing
• Supportinstalled base and legacy products

2. Engineering Function Leadership & Capability Building

• Build, scale, and strengthen theNuclear Engineering function
• Define and institutionalize:
  • Engineering guidelines and best practices
  • Design standards and procedures
  • Quality and compliance frameworks
• Driveprocess standardization and continuous improvement
• Develop high-performing teams capable ofdelivering under tight timelines and complex technical conditions

3. Design, Development & Innovation

• Lead and executenew product development and engineering studies
• Monitor & validate:
  • Technical calculations
  • Design simulations
  • FEA analysis
• Conceptualize and develop:
  • Models
  • Detailed engineering drawings
• Ensuredesign robustness aligned with execution timelines

4. Governance, Decision-Making & Execution Excellence

• Takecritical technical decisions balancing safety, quality, cost, and timelines
• Establish strongengineering governance frameworks
• Drivedisciplined execution in high-pressure, complex project environments
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensureseamless, timely project delivery

Key Skills & Competencies

Technical Expertise

• Experience inHigh Energy Centrifugal Pump Design
• Exposure toRotating Machinery / Heavy Equipment Engineering (preferred)
• Expertise in:
  • ASME Section III NB/NC(preferred)
  • ORASME Section VIII Div-1
• Proficiency in:
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Pressure Vessel Design
  • Engineering drawings and documentation
• Knowledge of nuclear standards(preferred)

Leadership & Behavioural Skills

• Proven ability tobuild and scale engineering organizations
• Experience in setting upengineering processes, guidelines, and governance
• Strong decision-making capability in high-stakes scenarios
• Excellentproblem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Strongplanning, execution, and stakeholder management skills

Qualification & Experience

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)
• M.Tech (Mechanical) – Preferred
• 15+ years of experience, including:
  • Minimum10 years in relevant engineering domain
  • Experience in leading teams andmanaging complex project execution

Preferred Background

• Experience inNPCIL projects or nuclear ecosystem
• Exposure toregulated industries with tight timelines and compliance requirements
• Track record ofdriving execution excellence under constraints
