Department Team Lead – Alphagraphics Division
We are a commerical printer and sign company and the purpose of this role is to be a department lead over the bindery department. In the bindery department, there is a variety of print equipment and packaging and bindery tasks that produces print materials for customers. This role is a entry level leadership role where the employees in bindery will report to this role.
The department lead role is critical to operational success because they are responsible for leading people, ensuring that department tasks and processes are followed, assigning employees to certain areas in the department based on order volume, communication and training. This role will report to the production manager.

Market Description
Oversees, monitors, and coordinates activities for production teams responsible for material handling, assembly, and equipment operation. Gives importance to individual member's and overall team's achievement of established goals. Ensures team's goals are aligned with and representative of the overall company's directive. Acts as liaison between team members and the rest of the organization. Supports department supervisor or manager while maintaining little authority for personnel actions. May require an associate degree or its equivalent and experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor.

Internal Description
A department lead is an entry level leadership role where a person will be responsible for backing up a supervisor or manger, be a working lead in the department working alongside employees, training, managing workflow, output, quality and possibly leading up to 10 employees.
Responsibilities
- Assist a manager in leading workers in a department, ensuring that they are working safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to workers and ensure that they are completed on time and to quality standards.
- Assist in monitor production processes to identify issues and implement solutions to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with other departments, to ensure that production runs smoothly, and that product quality meets customer and industry standards.
- Train and develop employees, providing feedback, coaching, and support to help them improve their skills and performance.
- Help manager and/or supervisor to implement production schedules and workflows to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production activities and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to management.
- Key role is helping location have a Redo rate of 1% or less of sales.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Ability to run (and train how to run) every machine/task area at a location.
- Continuously evaluate and improve production processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Participate in and conduct root cause analysis on Redo’s, both internal and external, anything over $250.
- Reinforce company policies, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to maintain smooth handoffs and coordinated workflow.
- Support continuous improvement efforts aimed at reducing waste, improving output, and driving cost efficiency.

- Experience in a production environment if overseeing a production department

- Able to lift up to 35lbs with or without assistance
- Be reliable – have excellent attendance

Work Schedules and Arrangements
- Onsite position
- Hourly (wage will depend on the applicants experience, industries and roles they are worked in

- 8am-5pm Monday through Friday
