- Accountable for the corrective maintenance of shipboard equipment and structures.
- Responsible for completing assigned Deck maintenance and refurbishment projects
- Repair and replacement of steel structures, such as railings, deck plating and pipe-work.
- Repair of doors, window washing system, scrubbing machines, deck vacuum cleaners and other deck equipment.
- Fabrication in steel, other metals and synthetic materials.
- General maintenance duties as per Able-bodied Seaman position directed by supervisors.
- Assists Carpentry team with projects that require metalwork to be done.
- Carries out AMOS maintenance that requires technical structural work to be done, including repairs to weather tight doors, hatches and any other types of AMOS maintenance.
- Accountable for keeping an inventory of materials and welding equipment and updating the Storekeeper/ Bosun before signing off.
- Takes part in standby on the mooring deck, tender operation, and gangway duties as required.
- Accountable for the quality and final result of the welded areas to be refurbished and repaired.
- Responsible for safety procedures and fire precautions, especially when performing hot work, storing and handling hazardous materials.
- Ensures that all hot works are completed safely and advises the Bridge/Chief Officer that a hot work permit is closed when area is considered safe.
- Responsible for guiding the crew in all technical matters to accomplish the best results in the shortest time.
- Reports for work on time: clean, tidy and dressed in the appropriate uniform.
- Flexibility to adjust to project needs as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum six months experience working as a Welder/Repairman on large cruise vessels working on ships preventive maintenance
- Other types of vessel with appropriate increase in time considered
- Knowledgeable in:
- Electric and gas welding equipment & procedures
- All fabrication works related to ship maintenance
- Certified Welder
- High welding skills
- Capability of repair complex deck maintenance machinery
- Knowledge in steel ,other metals and synthetic materials fabrication
- Being able to conduct maintenance that requires technical structural work to be done, including repairs to weather tight doors, hatches and any other types of AMOS maintenance
- Familiarity with all safety and technical equipment used by the Deck Department.
- Capable to guide the crew in all technical matters to accomplish the best results in the shortest time.
- Knowledge in safety procedures and fire precautions, especially when performing hot work, storing and handling hazardous materials.
- Strong in supervision and organizational skills
- Good communicator and able to work under time pressure
- Detail oriented
Additional Information
This is a SHIPBOARD role.You must:
- Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
- Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
- Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
- If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations
- Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
- Complete a pre-employment medical
- Obtain a criminal background check
