The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with database administration, performance tuning, and automation, along with a collaborative approach to supporting development and infrastructure teams.
Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, including upgrades, backup and recovery, and failover clustering

Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying opportunities for query redesign, indexing, and configuration improvements

Perform capacity planning and implement performance monitoring across production and development environments

Troubleshoot database issues, ensuring high availability, data integrity, and reliability
-
Collaborate with application developers, server administrators, and other IT teams to ensure seamless database integration and performance optimization

Maintain detailed documentation for database processes, configurations, and standard operating procedures

Implement database security, compliance, and best practices in daily operations
-
Participate in a 24/7 production support rotation as part of the database team

Support additional database management systems such as Google BigQuery, MySQL, or PostgreSQL as needed

Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying automation opportunities and new database technologies to enhance system efficiency
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field — or equivalent experience

3+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator or Database Engineer

Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (installation, configuration, backup/recovery, clustering, performance tuning, and troubleshooting)

Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SSIS, SSRS, and high availability solutions (Always On)

Proficiency in query performance optimization and database health monitoring tools

Strong understanding of database file structures, indexing strategies, and access methods

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Google BigQuery, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or DB2 UDB (Unix)

Familiarity with cloud database environments and data modernization initiatives

Industry-recognized certifications (e.g., Microsoft SQL, MCDBA)
