We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges, and drives what’s next to power infinite possibilities for our customers, colleagues and society at large.

About the Role:

As a Data Product Owner at Wiley, you will play a key role in ensuring our Research business has access to high-quality publishing data that supports insights, analytics and informed decision-making.

Working within the Marketing & Publication Analytics function, you will own the roadmap, prioritisation and delivery of publishing data products, covering areas such as manuscript submissions, peer review, bibliometrics, sales, usage and master data.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, product owners and data engineering teams across our global organisation to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and deliver measurable value.

You will also work closely with the Director, Data Product, external partners and technology providers to improve data quality, strengthen data pipelines and ensure our data products continue to meet evolving business needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own and manage publishing data products, including the roadmap, prioritised backlog and delivery of data warehouse tables, schemas and pipelines, ensuring they support business objectives and deliver value.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, subject matter experts and product teams to understand data needs, define requirements and identify opportunities to improve publishing insights and decision-making.
  • Translate business needs into clear delivery requirements, including epics, user stories and priorities, working closely with data engineering and architecture teams to plan, coordinate and track delivery through Agile processes.
  • Monitor and improve data quality, ensuring the reliability and stability of production publishing data, identifying potential issues and proactively communicating changes, trends and impacts to stakeholders.
  • Support data governance and adoption, partnering with analytics product owners and business teams to improve the accessibility, consistency and effective use of publishing data across Wiley.
  • Engage with internal teams, technology partners and external vendors to anticipate changes to data sources and application programming interfaces (APIs), improve data pipelines and coordinate releases across wider product and technology roadmaps.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a technology product management or product ownership role, including responsibility for product roadmaps, backlog prioritisation and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience working with data products, data management or analytics solutions to deliver business value.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with structured data, data pipelines or enterprise data platforms.
  • Experience collaborating with data engineering, data architecture and analytics teams to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
  • Practical experience applying Agile product management methodologies, including writing user stories, prioritising backlogs and participating in Agile ceremonies.
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders across different business functions, managing competing priorities and coordinating delivery across multiple projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within academic publishing, scholarly communications or a related information services industry.
  • Familiarity with publishing workflows, platforms and data, including manuscript submissions, peer review, bibliometrics, sales or content usage.
  • Experience using Python for data analysis, automation or data processing.
  • Familiarity with AI agents and their application to data management or analytics workflows.
  • Experience working with external technology vendors, data providers or third-party integration partners.
  • Experience working within global, cross-functional or matrix organisations.
