Role Summary
We are looking for an On-Site Data Centre Hardware Engineer to support technical operations and maintenance activities within a high-performance AI compute data centre. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with GPU and server hardware, networking infrastructure, and structured data centre procedures, enabling operations teams to maintain mission-critical uptime.
Key Responsibilities
·Diagnose and resolve on-site transceiver and cabling failures across InfiniBand, Ethernet, and fibre interconnects; perform structured cabling changes between servers, ToR switches, and spine-leaf infrastructure.
·Execute hot-swap and cold-swap replacement of GPUs, CPUs, DIMMs, drives, PSUs, and networking hardware (switches, line cards); perform system restarts and POST validation following changes.
·Initiate and manage RMA processes with OEM vendors (NVIDIA, Supermicro, Dell, Arista); coordinate inbound/outbound logistics, serialisation, burn-in, and acceptance procedures.
·Conduct structured daily hardware inspection rounds covering all racks, PDUs, and cooling infrastructure; log findings in the ITSM ticketing platform and escalate anomalies promptly.
·Serve as on-site responder for P1/P2 hardware incidents; perform triage, guided recovery, and IPMI/BMC-based power cycles as directed by the remote NOC or on-call engineering team.
Required Capabilities
·2+ years of hands-on experience in a data centre, HPC, or enterprise server environment; practical experience with GPU compute hardware (NVIDIA DGX/HGX or equivalent).
·Proficiency with BMC/IPMI management interfaces (iDRAC, iLO, AMI MegaRAC) and ability to interpret system event logs (SEL) and hardware diagnostic outputs.
·Solid understanding of data centre networking: Ethernet, InfiniBand, structured cabling (DAC, AOC, fibre); experience with QSFP diagnostics and ToR switch CLI inspection.
·Familiarity with OEM RMA workflows and experience collaborating with field service engineers from vendors such as NVIDIA, Supermicro, Dell, HPE, or Arista.
·Strong documentation discipline; experience with ITSM or CMMS platforms (ServiceNow, Jira, or equivalent); knowledge of ESD handling and data centre safety procedures.
·English proficiency required for documentation and OEM communication. Mandarin proficiency strongly preferred for on-site coordination.
·Night, weekend, and public holiday shifts will be required. Shift allowances will apply accordingly.
