Purpose of the role:Â
WorkingacrossPico’s andits clients’data centers in New Jersey, withadditional coverage in Chicago, Mexico and Canada, the role holder willlead a teamresponsible for the physical build,maintenanceand operational integrityofthe data centre environment.The successful candidate will bring proven leadership experience and will be accountable for managing the team’s book of work, setting priorities, allocating resources, developing team members and ensuring high-quality, timely delivery. Working closely with Network and Systems Engineering, Project Management and Client Service Delivery, the role holder will provide clear direction, promote accountability and collaboration, and ensure projects and operational activities are delivered safely and efficiently. Astructured approach, strongproblem-solving skills and the flexibilityto work withinshort change windows, late at night andoutside normal business hours are essential.
Responsibilities and duties(include but not limited to)Â
Key responsibilities include:Â
- Lead, motivate and develop the Data Centre team, setting clear expectations and promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Own and manage the team’s book of work, ensuring that operational activities, projects, incidents and service requests are recorded, prioritized and delivered to agreed timelines and quality standardsÂ
- Plan and allocate team resources across Chicago, New York, Mexico and Canada, balancing business priorities, capacity, skills and operational riskÂ
- Monitor delivery performance, remove blockers, manage competing priorities and provide clear progress, risk and dependency updates to stakeholdersÂ
- Conduct regular team meetings and one-to-one discussions, provide coaching and feedback, and support individual development and succession planningÂ
- Work closely with Network and Systems Engineering, Project Management and Client Service Delivery to coordinate implementation, maintenance and support activitiesÂ
- Ensure the physical build, maintenance and operational integrity of Pico’s and its clients’ data centre environments, including rack and stack, cabling, hardware installation, migrations, cross-connects and circuit testingÂ
- Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with change controls, technical standards, documented procedures and customer requirementsÂ
- Oversee accurate and timely updates in the ticketing system, together with inventory records, rack elevations, audit results and power-utilisation reportingÂ
- Coordinate data centre access, shipping and receiving, equipment storage and third-party or vendor activityÂ
- Lead the response to incidents and outages, ensuring appropriate escalation, communication, restoration activity and follow-up actionsÂ
- Provide hands-on technical support when required and maintain a structured, problem-solving approach during short change windows and business-critical activityÂ
- Maintain on-call and out-of-hours coverage across the team, including emergency attendance at data centre facilities when requiredÂ
- Travel between data centre locations as required, sometimes at short noticeÂ
Education, Skills and background(incl. Education and Experience Requirements)Â
- 10+ years of experience in Telecommunications or Data Centre related fieldÂ
- In depth knowledge of Telecom structured cabling standardsÂ
- In depth knowledge of network device / server deploymentÂ
- In depth knowledge of DCO standards and operationsÂ
- Effective organizational skills and high attention to detailÂ
- Building Management System and Branch Circuit Monitoring experienceÂ
- Strong troubleshooting skillsÂ
- Professional business communication and interpersonal skillsÂ
- Demonstrated people leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, develop, and support team members while promoting accountability and collaborationÂ
- Mission Critical Data Centre Facility MaintenanceÂ
Working Arrangements (Build into Template)Â
Working ArrangementsÂ
The working days for this role are Tuesday to Saturday: Tuesday to Friday 11 AM to 7 PM and Sat 9 AM to 6 PM. Sunday availability on request. This is a non-office-based position. Travel between data centers in New Jersey (and occasionally beyond) will be required on an on-going basis. Home base is New Jersey, where we operate out of Equinix NY4, the travel is primarily within AMRS. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions / geographies including but not limited to EMEA, USA and APAC).Â

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and relevant certification. New York Pay range$100,000—$120,000 USDBe a part of Pico Family
