The Data Analyst will work with event, tracking-derived, physical, and other soccer data and collaborate with stakeholders across the Front Office, Scouting & Recruitment, Analysis, and High Performance departments.

The position reports directly to the Head of Analytics. The Data Analyst will receive direction on departmental priorities while being given autonomy to determine appropriate approaches to their work.

Responsibilities

  • Answer ad-hoc questions related to team performance, player evaluation, recruitment, opposition analysis, physical performance, and other sporting needs.
  • Analyze soccer data and translate findings into clear, actionable insights through effective visualizations, reports, metrics, models, and tools.
  • Produce and maintain recurring reporting around First Team matches.
  • Develop and maintain accurate, reproducible workflows within the Club's existing Python-based environment.
  • Balance short-turnaround requests, recurring responsibilities, and longer-running projects while collaborating with stakeholders across the sporting organization.
  • Apply soccer knowledge and tactical understanding when framing questions, interpreting results, and communicating findings.

Key Deliverables

  • Timely ad-hoc analysis supporting sporting and player-personnel decisions.
  • Recurring pre- and post-match reporting.
  • Clear, reliable visualizations, metrics, tools, and workflows.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Sports Analytics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Experience using Python for data analysis and developing statistical or machine-learning models, with strong data manipulation, visualization, and statistical skills. Additional experience with SQL, APIs, Git/version control, or data pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of soccer, including tactical concepts, and the ability to connect quantitative analysis to the game.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including structuring open-ended questions, working independently, and communicating findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Effective management of competing priorities, openness to direction and feedback, and attention to accuracy in high-pressure and time-sensitive environments.
  • Availability to work in person and accommodate non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed around matches and team operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with soccer event, tracking-derived, or physical-performance data through professional work, academic research, or independent projects.
  • Demonstrated success in professional or collegiate sports, or another high-performance environment.
