What to Expect

The new manager will own dangerous goods compliance for EMEA Distribution & Logistics, and you make it work across Parts, Transport, Warehousing, and Service. You are the regional lead for how Tesla classifies, packs, stores, hands over, and ships dangerous goods. The standard only holds if those teams run it the same way. You set it with them, not for them.
The team develops, maintains, and audits Tesla’s logistics compliance standards, processes, and tools. Your job is to turn regulation into one operating system that Parts, Warehousing, Transport, and Service can all execute: clear rules, trained people, clean data, and fewer errors. You will structure it with those teams, lead it, and hold the network to the bar.

What You’ll Do

  • Program Ownership: Own the EMEA Dangerous Goods (DG) program across the entire supply chain network (Parts, Warehousing, Logistics, and Service). Define the compliance roadmap, annual plans, and shared risk priorities with measurable targets. Translate international regulations (ADR, RID, ICAO, IATA, IMDG) into actionable internal work instructions and system controls.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the connective lead between functional teams to remove conflicting local practices and establish a unified working rhythm. Collaborate with Parts on product identification and packaging specs; Warehousing on storage and site controls; Logistics on carrier compliance and lane-level error reduction; and Service on inbound and return flows. Align regional initiatives with Global DG, EHS, Legal, and Quality teams.
  • Operations & Master Data: Provide authoritative day-to-day guidance on classification, packaging specifications, marking, labelling, and shipping documents. Ensure Parts master data remains aligned with multimodal transport requirements. Partner with operations and planning teams to build systemic controls that prevent errors before shipment and eliminate manual work at handoffs.
  • Governance, Audit, and Risk: Manage the DG audit program across Tesla sites and relevant 3PLs, ensuring the timely closure of findings. Own non-conformance management and use network shipment data to target high-risk lanes, sites, and partners. Proactively monitor regulatory changes and escalate safety risks early. Report a consolidated overview of compliance metrics, error rates, and residual risk to stakeholders.
  • People and Capability: Lead the DG compliance capability for EMEA, including the management of direct reports and regional focal points. Develop role-based training programs, verify operational competence, and build a sustainable trainer network across sites to ensure long-term business continuity.
  • Stakeholder Management: Represent the joint DG standard with internal leadership, carriers, 3PLs, and external partners. Successfully resolve cross-team trade-offs regarding cost, speed, and compliance, ensuring regulatory requirements are balanced effectively with operational needs.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • DGSA certification under ADR, or a proven commitment to obtaining it. Working competence in IATA DGR / ICAO TI and the IMDG Code is required.
  • 8+ years of experience in dangerous goods transportation compliance, including classification, packaging, and shipping documentation.
  • Experience leading a team, a regional program, or a network of site owners across multiple functions (multi-site operations or cross-functional scope is required; warehouse-only or carrier-only experience will not be considered).
  • Proven track record working across parts management, warehousing, transportation, and service/field operations.
  • A track record of running an audit or assurance program, driving the closure of findings with owning teams, and measurably reducing repeat DG errors.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize operational data from multiple sources into actionable business decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Business Intelligence (BI) data tools is highly preferred.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to represent Tesla with internal leaders, carriers, 3PLs, and regulatory authorities. Professional fluency in a second EMEA language is a strong plus.
  • Sound judgment when operating under ambiguity, with a proven ability to establish and enforce standard operating procedures across diverse team workflows.
  • Multimodal exposure across multiple EMEA countries is preferred.
