Grants & Finance Accountant – Nonprofit Arts Organization

We are seeking an experiencedNon-Profit Accountant to support the financial operations of a small, community-focused nonprofit organization in the Chicago area. The ideal candidate will have experience with nonprofit accounting, grant reconciliation, and financial reporting while maintaining accurate and organized financial records.

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Responsibilities

• Reconcile bank accounts and financial records.
• Track and reconcile grant funding with organizational expenditures.
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with budgeting.
• Manage general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
• Assist with financial audits and year-end reporting.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting policies and grant requirements.
• Collaborate with leadership regarding financial planning and reporting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in nonprofit accounting required.
• Proficiency withQuickBooks andAplos Accounting Software is required.
• Experience reconciling grant funding and restricted funds.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience preparing financial statements for nonprofit organizations.
• Knowledge of nonprofit grant management and reporting requirements.
